Default Time Spent with a MF Great in So Cal

Last night I had the distinct pleasure of joining my friends and fellow coaches, Mr. Rick Garrison, Mr. Eric Robinson, and Mr. Ajahaana Patterson at the home of Mr. Vince Peatros for some MF action.

I was talking to Rick on the phone last week and he gets Vince in on a conference call, one thing leads to another and we are set to hang out at his place Tuesday afternoon.

I never met Vince, just read a lot about him, heard a lot about him too. Based on this I had no idea what to expect. He welcomed me into his home and treated me like a friend right from the start. He taught me a heck of a lot in the time I was there and we had a fantastic time, all of us.

Vince is a teacher, not a man of many words, but he will show you something and you better pay attention because he will then make you repeat what you just saw. His tweaking skills are second to none, believe me, this dude can TWEAK like there is no tomorrow and these are out of the pack non-boiled bases. I watched in horror as he tore apart my squad, athlete after athlete and threw them at me and made me tweak them. Tweaking a base in front of a great like Vince is intimidating, but employing the techniques he taught me plus what experience I already had and it all fell together. I was pretty happy with my team when I got there, I spent a lot of time getting them where they were, but after learning from him, my squad was even better when I left eight hours later. He makes you do it, he will not do it for you, you gotta do work to learn from this cat.

He is a talented artist, some of the handpainted teams he has done were immaculate, highly detailed with handpainted letters, numbers, logos, truly a talented man with a brush.

The strength, speed and special ability athletes I saw were out right astonishing, as he showed me athletes from his different teams. This guy has second and third string players that will walk on some coaches first string guys.

Believe all that you hear, this guy is tops in the MF world and I am thrilled to have had the chance to learn from him and spend time with the fellas.

Yes, he is real, he does exist, he is not made up, he is humble, not a braggart, he's willing to teach only if you pay attention and he is a MF great, like it or not.

He has no idea I am posting this, heck, he might not even appreciate it for all I know. I just wanted to share my excitement, not many in this hobby get to spend time with such a talented coach and MF icon.

Just my take on an great evening spent with a coach who for some reason seems to catch a lot of flack whenever his name is brought up.

I now know what he can do, so do the rest of the So Cal coaches and LAEFL and I am glad he is in this city and not somewhere else, as hanging out with a coach of this caliber does nothing but improve your skill set and I am greatful for the time he spent with me.
