Eli's game-winning drive still better than Big Ben's

Big Ben Roethlisberger now leads Eli Manning in Super Bowl victories and he's tied with him in dramatic endings as they will forever be linked and their careers compared. Roethlisberger has two titles to Manning's one and he erased memories of that horrible performance, the worst-ever for a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, when the Steelers beat the Seahawks three years ago. Was Sunday night's compelling Super Bowl better than the New York Giants' huge upset of the Patriots?

"No one thought we could top last year's Super Bowl," commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday. "A lot of people believe we did. This was a spectacular show. A great performance by both teams."

The real debate is which quarterback had the more impressive and memorable Super Bowl game-winning two-minute drive: Eli or Ben? This must be put in the perspective of the circumstances and the opponent, according to the New York Daily News.

The Giants' 12-play, 83-yard drive came against the undefeated Patriots, going for the first-ever 19-0 season. New England would have been crowned the greatest single-season team in NFL history if it could have protected the lead. There will never be a more intense two minutes in the Super Bowl than Manning taking the Giants down the field trying to win the title and prevent history from being made against them.

The Steelers' eight-play, 78-yard drive came against the Cardinals, who along with the '79 Rams are the only teams with as few as nine regular-season victories to make it to the Super Bowl. They were on a great run, but let's be fair, they were still the Cardinals.

One other factor: The Giants were down 14-10 and needed a touchdown. The Steelers were down 23-20 and had the security of knowing a field goal would send it into overtime as they attempted to win it in regulation.

I also think the Giants were luckier. I also think the refs reviewed the plays that needed to be reviewed and did not call stupid penalties like this years game.
Each game is different, I don't really care who made the best last minute drive. There are decades of Super Bowl games to review now and more than one Eli, and Ben type drive to look at. This stuff sells stuff. How many Holmes jerseys were picked up at Models yesterday ? They already sold enough Ben's. . They would have had to start making any cardinals jersey.
We are often like sheep being led to purchasing slaughter.
