The CBSMF Requires Team Research
One of the fun things many of us are finding out about the CBSMF League is the task of doing some research on players of various eras.
When I talk to guys from throughout the country, you can hear the excitement of learning about great players from the past and present day players as well. They talk about who to put on their team as starters in the backfield. They talk about the receivers who they never knew existed or played at that particular university only to find out that the player was a superstar! Guys gain a greater appreciation for the different superstars of each school as well as the yeomen. It's funny to hear guys talk about one guy getting 20 carries and another one getting 15 carries in a game and wanting to make sure each star gets his fair share. I love hearing about the great defensive linemen, almost having too many to play and figuring out who's gonna be in the rotation. All of this type of stuff is not only fun but it's educational too. I have already learned about so many people teams just by reading about what they are doing. Whatever you do, be careful not to jeopardize winning for superstar statistics. Some guys may want to have Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris both rushing 220 times within a season because you think this is how it ought to be. But be careful and win the game instead. The stats will come and the best player will step up. So continue to do the research and let's make this a rewarding and enlightening league. Reginald Rutledge CBSMF Tennessee Volunteers |
