training with complete O squad, step by step
Hi,
Tonight I continued my training, trying to learn the rules and basic strategies, and making vids of it for reference. I made a little video of one of my achieved running plays ! I'll try to explain my process, comments are welcome, remember I'm a complete newbie (and, worst of all, a french newbie ) in base tweaking and playing. The board is running at about 6/10 of speed, if I speed up the game I have difficulties to react on stoppage (reading pass opening, but faults and flags too) for now. the position for players : side space between players : 1 base width lenght space between players : 2 yards line of scrimmage : 2yards between O and D the positionning sequence I use is (thanks to Al for the advises) : 1)offense setup 2)defense setup 3)offense pivots (except linemen) 4)play the goal is to obtain a (quite) realistic defense action, to avoid too easy offense reading and force the defense to avoid stacking and piles. The ball carier : half back (I hope it's the good name for him if not, the ball carrier is the running back the most far from LOS) My idea when I mounted this play, was to use the full back to protect the HB run, hopping for a good hole made by the right tackle. the tight end was placed to fake a passing play, as the wide receivers too. Remember the O squad make the last pivot on positionning, so this placements of receivers is especially bluffing to force the defense to spread. then, the board is cut ON. Sadly, my right tackle is not enough powerfull to create the whole, but fortunatly, the HB came right into his back to add some strenght and push the defense guard. The fullback is making his job, pushing the right defender (even if the defender was not so dangerous...but it make the play good looking). After seeing the video, I realized that I could use the full back to help on the push on the guards, making the run safer. With a little luck help, the HB finally liberates himself from the rush and go (quite fast, I'm happy ) to touchdown, just near the sideline. On side action, we can see the receivers (WRs and TE) are decent runners too, making straight and quite fast runs. If the coaches had told the video referee , the play could be flagged I think. The D guard base front slightly touch the base back of the HB during a short moment (I 've seen it in slow motion on the PC). But since the Defense coach didn't notice it.... Anyway...I guess you understood that I'm having a lot of fun, even playing alone for now ! |
