IN THE SHOOTOUT STYLE

In the shootout style of play does anyone ever blitz up the middle. 1 way mto stop these great passers is to get presure on there QB and have him make a pass he does not want to. Greg hardmon is one of the greatest passers i've ever seen. At the end of the championship with mike robertson. he told mike he has never been sacked that many times. So with that said, WHAT OTHER METHODS DO YOU EMPLOY TO GET TO THE QB OTHER THAN A LOOPER ?

We all know most bases have a square front which means alot of base to base traffic. It can be hard to slip a lineman or lb past the traffic in time. SUPERFAST LINEBCKERS ARE A MUST IN THIS SHOOTOUT STYLE. If you play a guy like DON " LIGHT EM UP " HUDSON of DFW fame. Your going to get eaten alive if there is no pressure on the qb.


**DOES ANYONE EVEN PRATICE GETTING PRESSURE ON THE QB ?

I think you must get their in 2 to 3 seconds to be effective. Getting close will force the qb to shut the board off before he wants and throw to an engaged player. Which increases the chance of an interception since the WR is engaged. So pressure works even if he is able to make the throw. I feel alot of coaches lose in the shootout style of play due not being able to defend the pass. Every coach has his own philosiphy on a pass defense. BUT WHAT ARE THE MOST EFFECTIVE. ?

I see in this style that to be considered a decent to great coach, you must PASS and learn how to DEFEND THE PASS. Someone who runs most of the time a defense will begin to stack the box until things happen. But it is absolute terrot whjen you see the WR DOUBLE STACK ON BOAT BASES, 4 ide splits, wr's angled east and west. You must hope your db's and safties can keep these guys from getting free.
