Tungsten Putty
OK, I haven't tried this, but after our Pinewood Derby races yesterday (2nd in class, 4th overall finish, a trophy and 2 medals) I was looking at all the weighting systems that guys used. Checking online, I found this as well as many other sets of weights. Seems like a perfect fit for our hobby and a way to standardize weighting of bases, without using toxic, magnetic or lead substances.
Tungsten is the world's 4th heaviest metal. It weighs up to 1.8x as much as lead and over 3x the weight of the Zinc/Pewter weights available through the Scout Shops and Hobby Shops. Tungsten is a safe non-toxic metal and it takes up less space under a platform or base. Thoughts, anyone tried this stuff.
