Default the TPFL DRAFT...

Well tonight i held the TPFL draft for player talent on all my squads.

what i did was use the bases i had collected from the past couple years of tweeking, trading, buying etc that i no longer would use on my competition teams...i was amazed that it was almost 150 bases in my save for later box... prolines both round and square that were tweeked then replaced, had some boiled bases i collected, some red pegs, and a few wide tops.

i took all the teams, placed them in a box and had my son pull them out one at a time...that decided the draft order, then i took 2 colored dice, one red and one black , red for offense, black for defense and would roll them to determin the number of "draft picks" that team gets.I then put all the bases into the box and would pick them out at random as the teams get thier picks

then i numbered the teams from a pro set offense set and a 4 - 3 defensive set and from left to right numbered them 1 to 11. i rolled the dice to determine the position that the "draft pick" was to go to and the draft was on.
its funny sometimes how this game resembles real life as the first team drawn for the draft was the Patriots. I rolled the dice to see how many picks they get and they scored big they got 3 picks for the offense and 6 for defense. a powerhouse team in the making. now i rolled the dice to place the picks to a spot on the team... and i did this for all the teams, and here is how my draft came out. BTW : all players not designated a "draft pick base" will get a standard miggle rookie base tweeked the best it can be for its position.

THE DRAFT,,

1. New England Patriots 9 total picks 3 off 6 defense. the picks went to.. OL RB WR /// LB LB DB DL DL S

2. Miami Dolphins 7 total picks 3 off / 4 def the pick went to...
OL OL OL // LB DL DL DL

3. Philly Eagles 7 total picks 3off / 4 def the picks went to..
OL WR WR // DL LB S DL

7. Buffalo Bills 2 total picks 1 off 1 def the picks went to...

8. 49ERS 6 total picks 4 off 2 def the picks went to...
OL OL OL WR /./ DB S

9. Pittsburgh Steelers 5 total picks 4 off / 1 def the picks went to...
WR OL QB OL // DL

10. Chicago Bears 5 total picks 4 off / 1 def the picks went to..
RB OL OL OL // LB

11. San Deigo Chargers 5 total picks 3 off /2 def the picks went to..
WR RB RB // LB DB

12. DA Browns 6 total picks 4 off / 2 def the picks went to...

OL OL RB RB // Safty

16. Oakland Raiders 8 total picks 4 off / 4 def the picks went to..
RB QB WR OL // DL DL S DL

thats how the draft worked out for the teams...all non "draft pick" players get rookie bases.
this season should be fun with the talent spread out all around like this...each team should develop its own unique style of play and should be really fun as some of the teams will be strong...some fast...some with great recievers..

Stay tuned as the season will kick off hopefully by the begining of november.

What a great idea for a draft ! I am all for RANDOM selections. Using dice is a great way to create fairness and random chances. I used dice to determine early round scores in my tournaments as well as with my result charts during my games I play. Keep posting. I will follow along.
