Default My first custom....

This is one of my first custom figures. I have more in the team galleries section to check out but let me know what you guys think of CJ Spiller and criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan, Great job! Balancing this kind of figure can be tough but it looks like you did a really nice job. If anything, being slightly balanced to the left matches the pose and you may find it helps the base turn the corner to the left side. Again, great job its a beautiful figure.

If anything, my advice on figures like this (leaning with one leg up off the platform), is to test it on a base just to make sure you feel it is balanced and playable before you put all the detail on. I have turned to testing the figure on bases before detailing these type of figures. Nothing worse than a beautiful figure that doesn't play well .

Nice Job!

Not much criticism man, it looks pretty darn good.

But if i have to say something, it would be what Joe Allore said.
Figs with their leg up like that can be tricky in getting them to run well. But it can be done, just alittle more work put into tweaking a base.

Add some fingers to the player and it brings out the spectacular in the pose.
If you dont know how to do it, just ask and myself, or someone will tell ya how to do it.

But really, really nice job for your first custom.

Wow, cant wait to see the 5th, 10th and 30th custom you do.

My only complaint is he looks too real!!
Nice job!!

Here is my real complaint though and this goes across the board to a lot of members. Photography!
Try to always shoot them on a field and here is what I suggest.
  • Shoot outdoors when possible under light consistent shade
  • Shoot on a field, but not just any field. Get an old non-playing one that you don't mind doing this too or an old field cover and spray it with a light coat of dull cote to take away the shine. Use an old Tudor crowd scene (dull coat) if you have one as the backdrop.
  • OR take a piece of poster board, dull side facing the camera and curve it like a skateboarders 1/4 pipe. Shoot the man on this. This will give the figure a real professional look with a no seam background. Experiment with light blue, gray, black or other color poster board as well.
  • Take one picture from farther away. Close-ups often reveal more than we want to see. Most figures look their best when we hold them in our hand and we can't see the little imperfections that the camera ALWAYS picks up.
  • Lastly-pet peeve of mine-have them on a base. It reminds the non informed that this is Miniature Electric Football.
