Just got in the door!!!!!!!!!!!
In the words of my good friend, There was a Large time had at the Bash this weekend. It was awesome to see a couple of guys (along with myself) who are going thru difficult times. Joe Greco, who just had surgery made the trip. And Will Travers, his wife isn't doing too well (PLEASE keep Will in your prayers) He spent all day at the hospital Friday visiting with his wife. Had just got in his house when I called him. Now this is around 11pm or later when I got to my hotel. Will came back out of the house to bring me the stuff to run the MFCA skills event. Where I was staying was a good 45 minutes from where he lives!!!!!!!!!!! Me, Will, and Ed Scott went to a diner, talked about old times. Before we knew it, it was 3am. Will, if you are reading this, if there is anything we can do, just say the word. Me and Ed will be back in 2 weeks for the BEFL season opener. If you need me before then, I will come out to kick it with you.
Back to the Bash: I won't jump the gun, I will let the tourney directors tell you guys who won. But I will say that the skills event was off the charts. Here are those winners Kicking: Big Keith and Mpls Tom were tied at 230, and had to go to a kick off. Tom made a kick from 50yds that Keith couldn't match. Strength: Again Tom was too much has he defeated CorEy to take home the medal. Strength (weighted) Big Keith was stronger than Corey has he captured the medal. Passing:CorEy wouldn't be denied this time as he posted a score of 260. Speed: RayF took a home the prize in this event. Speed (weighted) Big Keith won this event for a 2nd time. Ty Ware was a close second. I would also like to thank Tom Johnson, who signed up for the MFCA. He didn't enter in any of the events though. I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures and details to follow. Thanks again to all involved, you guys did an excellent job. Oh yeah, big props to Warren Jefferson for helping me with the skills challenge. Four eyes are better than two. NATIONAL

Tim Riley's Chiefs defeated Marcelo's Saints 12-7 in The Show III. Saints lead 7-0 at the half. Chiefs held the ball for all of the third quarter and part of the 4th before scoring and missing the extra point. 7-6 saints. Saints fumble the ensuing kickoff ( that blasted box!), chiefs recover at the 10 and later score, extra point failed. 12-7 chiefs. Saints finally see the ball at the 5 minute mark of the 4th quarter...they go 3 and out. Chiefs manage the clock poorly and punt it back with 48 seconds. Saints miss 3 wide open receivers on three consecutive plays all of which would have scored and the chiefs hold on for the victory.
Stay tuned for the DVD coming sometime on 2008! Results from the skills competetion Kicking: I took the gold with a score of 180. Strength: Eric was too strong he beat me (DMC) easily. Strength (weighted): Ajah Patterson was too strong, he beat me (DMC) in a much closer battle. Passing: I took the gold. Posted a score of 200 (missed both 30s and a 40). But I was able to use my regular passing ball. Both Eric and Cleon normally use the big EFDW balls which are legal in our league. For the skills competition I had to loan them an extra ball thay they had never thrown with. Speed: Eric defeated Ajah with a friggin' blocker. Speed (weighted): I (DMC) defeated Cleon. DMC |
