Well, It's About Dogon Time!
Got a question coach Rip.
As simple as it sounds, I would appreciate it if you would be as detailed as possible. Also, if I need to pull this post, just let me know and we can talk via PM. I need more clarity on the following: "On defense, any unengaged defensive player (not including eventual engagement with intended receiver) can cause pass interference, even if that player was engaged when the ball was placed. Any base contact within a base length or less is considered to be incidental contact and is not a penalty". First, the part in the paranthese always confuses me. Need clarity on this. Second, if I am understanding this correctly, why will an engaged defender (at the time the board is stopped to attempt a pass via P.S.) be penalized for P.I.? The reason I ask this is because the O coach can intentionally or unintentionally place the ball in the vacinity of the engaged defender thereby increasing the potential of a P.I. call in favor of the O. Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated. If I need to take this one off-line, please let me know. Thx Thanks! -Adrian- |

The spirit of the rule...
Is for a person to perform the pass the pass for a completion.... remember that any defender can also intercept the pass too.
I agree that the wording is quite a bit much and I will look at rewording the paragraph.
