Default New to the board (75 classic Giants Figure) question

I'm not sure if this is the right subject line to make this post:

I have a full collection of authentic 1960's/70's (EFL) NFL teams. Amongst my collection of teams are the '1975' 'Hog/Chicken Leg' New York Giants which are very rare to find. I have 10 (in excellent shape figures) but I'm missing one wide receiver player/figure from that team. I was wondering if anybody would know who might be able to help me re-create this one figure to match the rest of my '75' Giant classic team?

Attached are some sample pictures of the missing player and figure type.

Any advice would be helpful,

Robert Baker

yep, it may be that prototype haiti fig that some slipped out even before the haiti black shoe made it to the public. there was a set of these on ebay last week, they have extra sock stripes, the seller stated the team was not all there.

Default This is my originally ordered team 75 giants

What's the difference between Haiti and Hong Kong?

This Giants team was from an orignal purchase I made using the game set order form to Tudor games. I ordered this GIANTS team along with a list of other teams in 1976 from an ELF game set I got for Christmas in 75. I still have all the original teams from that order.

I did not post this team on ebay last week. I'm just looking to complete the team with that missing player (figure.) I have a nice collection of these teams from the 70's

see attachment of the game set I ordered it from-the ony difference was the featured teams where the dolphins (white) VS packers (dark.)

Don't mind Rip, he's gotten cranky in his old age... He is a true "EM EFFER"

There is the search engine in the teal bar near the top. The Rookie FAQ also has some answers to these questions.

On our main page, http://miniaturefootball.org/ there is a link to Chicken or Hog http://miniaturefootball.org/2009/10...r-chicken-leg/

Here is one thread on the subject that I found using the search for the word, "chicken"

hey bobby, what the ebay reference was for, is so maybe, if you find them on ebay, you could get your 11th figure. the more i look at yours, im inclined to think maybe they are tudor chickenlegs. the company and lots of us just paintted over blackshoes back then when the NFL started going to whiteshoes, we wanted our lil guys to make the switch with them.

i think you would be really lucky to find a set just like that, they are somewhat rare, ive only seen that version once or twice.

the single small dot on the helmet indicates the giants BEFORE haiti style of painting. even the size looks more chickenleg. but the sox look more detailed, which is almost sure to have been haiti era.

Mark-I also think the white dot on the helmet depicted the NY logo in CAPS replacing the lowercase NY. [see the atachment and you'll also see the multi striped socks.]

Yeah, I'm hanging onto this set-I also have the chargers in their powder blues from 72...

thanks for your help,

bobby

I forgot to include the link. Here is that post

PLEASE, TO THE MF COMMUNITY, CORRECT ANY MISTAKES I MADE OR ADD IN YOUR OWN SLANT/ANGLE/OPINION TO MY DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGS.

And away we go..............

Miggle China stamped helmet (2years ago) (about $15 on ebay)- the last figs they made. the best of their batch. good detail, paint job and helmet.

Miggle China painted (early 200's)(about $5 on ebay)- cheap figures, not very good detailed at all, wack paint jobs.

Miggle Pro Line figs - i believe also known as ITZ figs. about $7 for like 5 guys at different positions. nice figs, miggles attempt to put out a different pose other than the FAB 5.

Miggle Hong Kong (90's)( about $6 on ebay)- see above, but a little better quality.

Tudor Hong Kong (late 80's)(about $7-$10 on ebay) - see above, but alittle better than that.

Tudor Haiti white shoes (early 80's about $10 - $20 on ebay) - good paint jobs, good figures.

Tudor Haiti black shoes (late 70's) - the best by most accounts as well as the favorites. great paint jobs for a mass manufacturer. these teams are sought after and go for atleast $15 - $20, on up to $50 on ebay.

Tudor Chicken Legs (early 70's)( $10 on ebay) - not as good as haiti at all, more along the lines of 80's HK's with an older look and feel in the unis.

Tudor Hog Legs (1968-early 70's) (in the haiti BS price range) - these are similar in demand to haiti figures. these figures are 'stumpier' in the lineman and all the players are alittle thicker than the tudor teams to come after them. most of them have a dimple on their rear from where they were taken off the sprue. in a complete team, 4 of the guys will have Hong Kong written on the bottom of them.
from my experience, usually the wr and tackle figures are the ones, but not exclusive only.

1967 BIGMEN (crazy $$$ on ebay, not my price range so i will let others chime in) these are the kings of the fab5 tudor figures. they have good paint jobs and are bigger than normal figs. you can tell a bigman team in a picture by the tackle player. he is positioned just a bit further on the stand, almost in the middle, as opposed to near the back of the stand. ALL the players have Hong Kong written under them.

Buzzball figs (forgot the nickname) - sold in all white or with prepainted skin tones. about $22 a bag for about 19 guys representing about 7 positions/different poses. these figures can be snapped off at the arms, some legs and the head. anything else can be easily cut as well for customization.

Buzzball Haiti Repro ($$ ???)- sold in all white, reproduction of the haiti figures in detail. same FAB5 poses. sturdy figure as well and popular with the good customizers out here.

FF.NET figs - (about $20 for a bag of about 22 figs representing MANY different positions/poses, including a left handed QB) Reg Rutledge brand of figs made of rubber type material i believe, as opposed to plastice from all the other figs above. also can be cut apart and rebuilt into your own Steve Austin at any position.

Jennings figure(s) $10 - running back pose that is just straight nice!
as far as i know (Jeff, help?) this is the only figure he has out right now, but some more poses are in the works right now.

Then you have many customizers who mass produce a pose that you can get.

i think this about covers it.

its possible. the first year giants(1967 bigmen) deluxe guys had two verticle short stripes on each side of the helmet, each stripe represented a letter... ng, the hogleg and chickenleg blackshoe had a small dot, i think even the original hongkong chickenleg whiteshoe had the dot also, then- once the haiti's came out(real haiti's, not prototypes) the giants had the long horizontal arch, like the bengals had, which represented the long words... bengals and giants, cause they werent the artist that some of these guys are now...lol. one thing that will clear up what team you have is the style, lower or uppercase letters, and numbers that are raised on the bottom of the stand. if it is one uppercase letter and one number, they are haiti. if its another combo, they are not haiti, also, haiti's had little very small tabs on the side edges of the stands where they were cut from the mold, not very well either, hence the little tabs, i always cut them off.
