Week 8 is in the books. Here's the results.....

Munich Tames Wolves

Dieter Schmidt’s 47 yard interception return for a touchdown with under 1 minute remaining sealed the game for Munich in a tough 21-10 victory over Weirdwolf’s Werewolves. It was a defensive gem for both sides, as neither team could sustain any type of attack.

Richard Meier gave the Reich an early 7-0 lead with the games only big play, a 49 yard run that was set up by a devastating block by Sven Wagner on the Wolves Peter Wolf, opening a hole for Meier. The Werewolves came back and took a 10-7 lead on a Wolfman Jack field goal and a 28 yard TD pass from Warren Moon to Jack Nicholson. A blocked punt gave Munich the ball at the Wolf 35 yard line, and a personal foul negated a fumble by Klink, giving the Reich a first down at the Wolf 20 instead. Meier wasted little time in scoring on a 20 yard off tackle run to give the Third Reich the lead, 14-10 at the half.

The two teams battled back and forth until the final minute of play, when Schmidt’s interception closed out the scoring. Moon finished the day throwing 8-17-1 for 98 yards and a TD for the dog men, while Meier had 66 yards rushing a 2 scores for Munich. Wolfgang Puck had 7 ½ tackles and a sack to lead the Wolves, while Klaus Werner had 6 tackles for the Germans.

Ra Burned By Flaming Fairies

San Francisco scored on 8 of it’s 9 possessions as Egypt had no answers for the Fairies offense in a 51-28 rout. Tommy Cruise put on a passing clinic, completing 7-10-0 for 210 yards and 4 touchdowns, and Johnny Holmes had a career day, running for 255 yards and 3 scores as the Fairies moved one win away from the Un-North division title.

Egypt fell into an early 20-0 hole as the Ra had trouble mounting any offense. They finally got onto the board when Moses connected with Akhenaten on a 9 yard TD pass. The Fairies quickly upped the lead back up to 20 when Cruise found a wide open Gene Simmons on a 75 yard strike. Pat Medown added a 51 yard field goal on the last play of the half to make it 30-7, San Francisco.

The Ra recovered the on sides kick to start the second half and Ramesses caught a Moses pass to make it 30-14, but the Fairies quickly got the score back on a TD pass to Antoine Devries. Holmes’ last run of the day at the start of the final quarter gave the Fairies a commanding 44-14 lead, as San Francisco rested Holmes and Leach, giving little used Max Packs and Robert Reed some valuable playing time. Moses scored on a QB sneak and Kamose caught an 80 yard bomb for the final points. Simmons caught a TD pass in between the two for the Fairies. Moses finished the day 9-17-1 for 169 yards and 3 TD’s for the Ra. Piy had 5 tackles for Egypt while El Tonjohn had 6 ½ tackles and 2 sacks for San Francisco.

First, El Tonjohn gets a sack on Moses.....

...then Jack Stone throws Moses for a loss.

#21 James Leach catches this pass for a score.

Ramesses scores on a Moses pass.

Egypt's receivers often found themselves in double and triple coverage.

Zombies Show Some Life, Beat Mennonites

New Zealand took advantage of 3 Mennonite turnovers to prevail, 31-20. Marcus Allen, Curtis Martin and Franco Harris each scored on the ground, and Bart Star and Dan Fouts combined for 6-9-0 passing for 89 yards for the Zombies.

The Amish took a quick 6-0 lead on a Speedy Ezekiel run, but the extra point failed. Martin put the Zombies in the lead with a 1 yard TD plunge. Moments later, Billy ’White Shoes’ Johnson returned a punt 63 yards to make it 14-6 New Zealand. Adam Vinatieri hit a 21 yards field goal for a 17-6 halftime lead.

LutharLamp scored on the Mennonite’s first possession of the second half to make it 17-12. The Mennonites tried for a 2 point conversion but failed. Harris and Allen touchdowns gave the Zombies a 31-12 lead going into the final quarter. Billy Bob Weisser scored on a QB sneak and converted the 2 point play to make it 31-20, but Willie Brown intercepted Weisser’s pass on their next possession to preserve the win. Cornelius Bennett had 5 ½ tackles to lead the Zombies, Brian Brenneman had 4 ½ tackles for the Mennonites.

The Ra defenders must have had too much sand in their shoes. There was also a rumor that Queen of the Nile Cleopatra was at the game sitting in the Pharoh's private suite. She felt no danger attending a Flaming Fairie's game.

Bozos Bounce Bees From Playoffs

Battle Creek used it’s 1-2-3 punch of Two Cents, More or Less and 5 ½ to grind out 270 yards of rushing as the Bozos clinched a playoff spot with a decisive 28-23 win. Kerry Kingbee had one of his best days, throwing 10-16-0 for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns, but it went for naught as Kalamazoo couldn’t overcome it’s own costly mistakes. The Bees were penalized 5 times for 40 yards, one costing them a touchdown, and another enabling the Bozos to keep a drive alive leading to a score. 5 ½ got the clowns on the scoreboard first with a 43 yard TD run. Steve Swarm made it 7 all with a 10 yard TD catch. A 5 yard hands to the face call negated what would have been a 4th down, and Pi quickly took advantage of it with a 54 yard TD strike to Pisces to give the Bozos a 14-7 lead at the half.

Battle Creek took the second half kick and drove 64 yards in 6 plays, resulting in a 41 yard TD run by 2 Cents and a 21-7 lead. Jason Stinger hauled in a 15 yard Kingbee pass to make it 21-13, as the extra point attempt hit the crossbar. On the clowns next possession, More or Less found a large hole in the middle of the Killer Bee defense and went 74 yards and a 28-13 lead. Peter Pollen took another Kingbee pass in for a TD and closed the gap to 28-20. The Bees then held the Bozos and blocked the punt, giving them excellent field position at the Bozos 24 yard line. An illegal shift penalty negated what could have been a game tying touchdown, and the Bees had to settle for a field goal instead. The Bozos then went on a clock eating, 11 play drive that ended with Larry Larvae intercepting a Pi pass at the Bee’s 18. With only enough time remaining for a couple of plays, the Bees could only get to their 31 before the game ended.

Pollen ended up with 60 yards rushing and 27 reception yards for Kalamazoo. Pi struggled on the day, completing only4-11-1 for 117 yards and a TD. Mudd Dauber had 5 ½ tackles and a sack for the Bees, while FM had 3 tackles and a sack for Battle Creek.

The Bees tried everything, including a full house backfield, to try and keep their season alive.

More or Less follows his lead blocker, 2 Cents, on this 74 yard TD run.

Sasquatch Contain Toxic Waste

Three Mile Island had the Canadians on the ropes early, but couldn’t deliver the knock out punch as the defending champions showed their resiliency in rebounding from a 14 point deficit to win their 6th game of the year, 35-28. Embarrassed by their sloppy play in the first half, the Sasquatch held the Waste to 7 points in the second half, forcing 2 three and outs, blocking one punt and a turnover on downs.

Steve Colbert gave the Waste a 7-0 lead on a 24 yard run, following a Grog fumble on the second play of the game. Snoop Dogg made it 14-0 Three Mile Island with a 84 yard punt return. Ollie North’s interception at midfield had the Waste looking to put the nail in the coffin, but George Dubya’s pass was tipped and intercepted by Chappy. Muckman’s touchdown cut the lead in half, 14-7. Not to be outdone, Orenthal Simpson scored to make it 21-7. The big guys put together a 68 yard, 9 play drive that was capped by a 15 yard TD run by Grog to end the half.

The Canadians came out fired up to start the second half, forcing and blocking a Toxic Waste punt. Muckman wasted little time in scoring to tie the game at 21 all. Simpson scored from 13 yards out to put the Waste back in front, 28-21, but it was all Sasquatch after that. Muckman’s 3rd TD of the day tied it back up, and Grog’s 7 yard run was the final score of the day. Simpson finished the day with 73 yards on 9 carried with 2 touchdowns. Stinkwater was 4-8-1 passing for 71 yards and 20 yards rushing for Canada.
Colon Powell had 7 ½ tackles for the Waste, while Bubbles had 4 tackles and 2 sacks to lead the Sasquatch.

Bubbles, #66, gets his first sack on Dubya.

Simpson, #32, finds a large hole on this delayed draw play.

Knowing the game was in hand, Bubbles was careful not to throw Dubya to the ground on his second sack and getting a personal foul flag.

Cleopatra is at all the Ra games. She has to, she's the head coach!
