Need some help and feedback please.

French Guy mention one day about the color of platforms being finished nicely and standing out. He also mentioned that same color platforms as the bases dont let the figure stand out (i think he said that).


My question is, on a figure like this, and later a team, on these new blue bases, what color would you recommend the platform being?
Sometimes the standard green doesnt look so cool with the colored bases, so this always gets to me when painting up teams.

What would you go with here????

DO you want to use only blue bases ?

See the attached picture, with green plateform on blue base. For me, it's looking good enough, even if I'd prefer green base + green plateform.

If you want a completly blue base, you can do it too. I'm not sure of the effect, it can give a "arena football" aspect, perhaps.

THe only thing really important in my opinion, is to make your platform with the same detail you putted on your customs. Good looking turf, fine painting job.

If you don't want to do that, it's better to let the platform not flocked. Or even painted in flat black.





In the wargaming world, there is 3 schools for the bases (= plateforms, but we're speaking of bases in wargames).

1) painted base, modelling flock on the top of it. you can use painted cork, painted sand, static grass, etc... and you can paint the sides of the base with flat black or a matching color of your choice (green for example, or blue why not)

2)bare base : only painted in one color, no flock. Often painted in flat black. Flat black It gives a "precious" aspect for the fig, helping our eyes focusing on the figure painting. The finish should be mat, not gloss.

The really important thing in that technic is to make a really nice flat paint : no brush traces, no undercoat or bare plastic visible.


3)"showcase" base : you can add hashmarks, and a lot of details on your base. Like you can see on a 12" mc farlane base, for example. For a complete team, it's not a good choice IMHO. THe overall aspect can be a little "messy".

you can also try to paint the sides of the plateform in blue to match your bases. Perhaps you'll obtain a good result
