I have been scrimmaging a solitaire game all week. I started this game at around 9pm last monday, so guess who the teams were? You got it - Saints Vs Pats! But anyway.............
The saints were just an 11 man team of Haiti figures. The Pats were a 22 man team of stamped miggles that i even customized a bit (just altered poses with some heat). 2 things jumped out at me, almost right away. 1. The 22 man pats team was just alittle more fun to play with because of their different poses at different positions (even the non altered poses as well) which gave me better play at the positions. 2. One of the RB's for the 11 man saints, was a devastating runner when sweeping to the right side. But on defense, his best position was corner because he could hold the wr somewhat. But if he broke off, who knows where he was going to go? I couldnt put other figures there cause they just could not handle Randy Moss at all (funny how this happens in our game, paralleled to real life - the beauty of the game ) With limited options from different positions and poses, i was only able to pretty much play 1 or 2 defensive schemes that optimized the talents of the athletes i had. THis sweeping RB now became a devastating blitzing safety on every play. It worked out well, but with only 1 safety back there, Moss and Troy Brown broke free a few times. BUT ALL IN ALL, Who cares? Its just preference. To me, even when it comes to the high end custom figures on the board. Cause like i mentioned to a coach a few weeks ago, once that board starts, who is really looking at the teams, players, type of fig, custom prettiness, etc? Once that board starts, you just trying to execute your play. You wouldnt care (at that moment) if you playing with the steelers as being a cowboy fan, you are just trying to get swann open for that pass from bradshaw. just my opinion. But i love this thread here, cause i have many 11 man teams that i play with and 22 man teams as well. I like hearing what others say. i will tell you one good thing about the 11, its old skool, and its so much more manageable. |

For the EPFA, each team has a roster of about 29-30 players, to allow for extra WRs, CBs, RBs, etc. Give some variety to who gets the ball and who makes the tackles, since I keep full stats.
For the ECFA, each college team gets 11 dark (offense), 11 white (defense). Some are Buzzball, some are Haiti Repro/Buzzball, some are Haiti Repro, some are all Miggle. For my new ECFA Division I-AA league beginning in February, teams will have just 11 players. And then for my history of college football project beginning in a couple months, those teams will also only have 11 players. Both this project and the ECFA Division I-AA league (part of the Helmet Row Show) will feature Miggle bases color coded to the particular teams. Ed

1- cheaper
2- collectors who try to get every team find it way easier to represent a team with only 11. 3-solitaire....WAY WAY faster to play ironman for solitaire, i use 13-15 players in solitaire. 4- newbies......all the first 3, especially #1 and #3. |

Actually, my solitaire league is nine man so Miggle 11 player teams work great.

It's really the same thing.
Just take out the guards or tackles on offense and two defenders; usually the corners.
See, I coach at a small highschool and we play nine-man. Combine that with the facts that I'm just getting back into MF for the first time since I was a kid so I don't have many teams, and several of my teams have broken players so I don't have all eleven anyway. Finally, the real nine-man game is played on a narrower field than eleven man. My old Tudor field is small and less bodies makes for more room to run. Put all that together and it works great for me. What I've done is start a small solitaire league in which each team is based on an actuall opponent my real team faces. I break down a game tape, draw up the plays the team I'm scouting runs, and play them. So far I'm having a blast and it seems to be helping my offseason preparations for next fall. If I could just take some pliers and 'tweak' my real players. Sorry if this hijaks this thread. I'll have to start a new thread about my solitaire league.
