![]() I feel ya on Hollywood and Septien, but since they both did time for abusing minors, I must leave them off my team. Also, a couple guys have Manster at ILB. He played DT for 99.9% of his career. Gotta keep it real.

![]() I was the only one who could not stand Fellows. He was a good player, but he was always a step late, and yes, he was the '80's version of Marc Washington. Duane Goodrich, anyone?

The 80's version of #37James Washington. All those numbers about Harvey Martin make the point, but another thing you could do is just watch him play. Watch him off the snap every play, the dude was just a frakin beast!!!!! Always pushing the OT back. THe OT had to play the "leverage and guide him" game to stop Harvey cause the power game wasnt gonna happen with him. And he was athletic enough to jump over or avoid the cut blocks as well. Eugene Lockhart - Good call on that one. Because of the talent rich LB's the Cowboys have had, he will never get his due props. That straight held it down in the middle for years in the 80's as Danny White (another underrated because of the greatness at the position) took us to the playoffs. Patrick Jeffers and Leon Powe anyone? How about Kevin Sweeney? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Just kiddin there as well)

As Good as Duane Thomas was... He didn't fit the requirement. he only played 2 years for the Cowboys. Though he's listed as a Cowboy from 70-72, he didn't play for the Cowboys during the 72 season; he only played in the 72 Superbowl. (after the 71 season) He was then traded to the Chargers for being a headcase and a malcontent. Next to Staubach he was the best player the Cowboys had on offense, but Landry got tired of his antics and sent him packing. It makes me wonder if Landry would have been able to put up with an athlete of today that puts himself over the team; or would he have just sent him packing? Your assessment on the TEs is accurate. I knew Novacek had been to 5 ProBowls and was a 5 time ALL PRO. I also knew that DuPree and Cosbie both were 3 time ProBowlers. What I didn't realize was that Witten (like Novacek) has been to 5 ProBowls and is currently a 2 Time ALL PRO. He still has a lot of career left, so his numbers will grow. He definitely could end up being the best. Demarcus ware fits the requirement to be on the list. The only things that the other LBs had over him was longevity. If he stays on this roster it isn't gonna hurt my feelings, because he's a great player. Your assessment of Hollywood Henderson is a little off. Hollywood played for the Cowboys for 5 years. He not only played great during Superbowls, he played great in the playoffs and during the regular season. He's listed as one of the first Linebackers to enter the NFL with 4.6 speed in the 40. Back in his day that was very fast. So fast that the Cowboys had him returning kickoffs part time. The great Lawerence Taylor (LT) is on record saying that Thomas Hollywood Henderson is the reason that he wears the number 56. While in Dallas this cat was never an also-ran. His 5 years are marked with spectacular and consistent play at the linebacker position. It wasn't his play on the field that got him sent packing, it was his sideline antics, destructive lifestyle, and on air comments towards opposing teams that made Landry get rid of him. Yes Hollywood liked to run off at the mouth, but he definitely backed it up on the field. His mouth, antics, flambouyant lifestyle, and drug addiction may be some of the reasons he only played in one ProBowl; but he is easily in the top 5 of alltime greatest Cowboy Linebackers, and he would rank in the top 2 of alltime greatest Cowboy Outside Linebackers. If he isn't #1 then it's Chuck Howley. I definitely agree with you that him turning his life around is admirable, but strictly judging him on his football tenure with the Dallas Cowboys... He ranks at the top. Here's my own ranking for Cowboys LBs: (This list does not include Greg Ellis because he's really a DE) 1. Chuck Howley 2. Thomas Hollywood Henderson 3. Ken Norton Jr. 4. LeeRoy Jordan 5. Eugene Lockhart 6. Demarcus Ware 7. Bob Bruenig 8. Deter Coakley 9. D.D. Lewis 10. Dave Edwards Honorable mention: Jerry Tubbs, Mike Hegman, and Dat Nguyen - OldSchool |

![]() #75Phil Pozderac was a monster himself during his time with the boys and #42 Derrick Lassic is a hometown hero from Westchester County, NY, so there is a soft spot. Now the other 2 - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey Don, GREAT POST THERE. Excellent evaluation of the LB's. Glad to see Lockhart getting some props, cause i surely dont hear his name mentioned much. It is too bad Nguyen and Coakley played during the down years of the Cowboys, i wonder how good they would have been had they played a few years earlier or started a few years later. Not one of the greats, but solid for his few years - #58Darrin Smith ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
