Jim why you gotta be startin' stuff! Here's my top 10 and there's no order;

1. Adrian Baxter (I'm 1 out of 'bout 100 against him)
2. Jim Davis (So much Power)
3. Norbert Revels(Power and Speed)
4. Reg Rutledge(Players that do Everything)
5. Mike Robertson(Adaptability)
6 Vince Peatros (All of the above)
7. Anthony Burgess( 3x Champ)
8. Don Smith (Professor to DC)
9. DC Smith (Grasshopper beats the Master #8)
10. Simmie Lassiter (4 app. in GLEFL champ)

There's several more but these are the top 10.

I wouldn't want to play against anyone who is better than me, which pretty much includes the entire MFCA, with possibly the exception of Weirdwolf, who I've been told can't even beat himself. Then again, from what I've heard from his wife, he beats himself on a daily basis so I guess that throws that theory out the window.

Many factors come into play when looking at a list like this. A combination of adaptability, skill set, strategy and popularity are factors that I used to choose my top ten and this is my order from top to bottom...

Please note that there are many great coaches across the country but style of play is a huge factor in determining the skill set of a coach. Strategy is so important and that is a key element that varies based on style of play. So if you are not on my list, it is not because I don't consider you a great coach it is because I consider these coaches the top 10 that could be successfull under any style.

1.) Vince Peatros - I've never seen him play but the very sound of his name seems to make people quiver. They all say the same things..."The greatest Coach ever and he knows it"!

2.) Adrian Baxter - Plays everywhere and wins everywhere. Has the cerebral ability to plau under any rules set foreign or otherwise and win! Great reputation of character and ability to adapt to change. Wins in the most hostile of enviroments.

3.) Norbert Revels - If he knew the rules all over the country as well as he knows his league rules, he would be at the top of this list and no one would be able to knock him down.

4.) Reginald Rutledge - He is who he is therefore, "it is what it is"!

5.) Don Smith - I haven't seen him play but he's on most people's top 10 list and here nothing but great things on this coach. I'd like to see him come out of retirement and win playing the many formats that are around now.

6.) Tom Johnson - The best coach that not very many people know about. This guy is flying waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy under the radar. Great Coach!

7.) D.C. Smith - Same boat as I am, the EFL world needs to see him win in other styles of play

8.) Big Keith Chalmers - I've seen him play everywhere and he always seem to end up in some league or tournament's championship game. He's just a winner!

9.) Greg Hardmon - His name says it all...Greg is hard man! Awesome coach. If he traveled Kornheisser and Wilbon would have a field day debating him and Adrian.

10.) Don Hudson - The most accurate passer in the entire country. No one knows of this DFW superstar but under other formats he'd shine like a star. Hopefully he'll get out and spread his wings.

There are many of us old but new guys getting back into the hobby who don't know many of these coaches.

I think this would make for a great multi-part article series for The Tweak.

I think that an interview format delving into their style of play, years in the hobby, greatest moments, favorite team to play with, favorite figures, bases and techniques they have developed, etc... Along with a chart showing leagues/wins/losses/ and achievements. Of course include a picture or two of the coach.

A lot depends on how serious you are about winning. Many coaches, present company included, play the game at a high level but many are totally dedicated to winning. It doesn't mean anyone is less or more, some just have a basic limit as to how far they can go.

Great coaches win anywhere, at any level. Maybe not the title, but they always seem to advance to the latter stages. Even in tournaments. Most tournaments are designed for my style of play but I can't remember one time where I didn't show up on game day or the night before and build my team. Now, on the other hand you have people months ahead of time with their team totally prepared amongst other things, gone in 60 seconds, and at what price? I commend their commitment but it comes, in most cases, with something I not yet prepared to do, personal sacrifice. Because a coach puts their family, career, or civic responsibilities ahead of electric football doesn't make someone better, it makes them more prepared. I am reminded too often of some of the horror stories associated with what is looked upon as dedication when it is actually sacrifice. It's a hobby, and maybe when I retire in a year or so then I can have some me time to see what my own competitve potential is, if I'm not traveling with one of my sons or whatever.

The best coaches can win when they are not the strongest/fastest. To be brutally honest the people that sticks out, to me, is Mr. Simmie Lassiter/Adrian Baxter/Kelvin Lomax/Greg Harmon.

Now I think it's another story when it comes to power. True, Jim has power, but behind it is a strategy. If you think we don't figure out ways to stop our power coaches, we do. Then strategy has to come into play. Being one dimensional for various reasons, Jim still finds ways to run even though everyone knows he's playing with one arm tied behind his back. For that reason, Jim is the best power coach to me because even when you come at him there is still a coach underneath. One note: No power coach has ever won our league but on the flipside, if Jim could pass only god knows how many he would have.

The best all-around coach to me is clearly Greg Hardman. Now Greg may be Mike Robertson in one league, Tom Johnson in another, DC Smith in his area, Salty, Raiderman, Adrian Baxter and so on in your league so keep in mind all of our views are limited by who we know. Why would anyone consider someone they never have seen play? Trust, but verify.
