(Area of improvement needed for the BAM this year)

All coaches not only enjoy playing - but enjoy the fun of being together.
(Pretty much have this already).

There is no arguing calls, etc...

Great food is plentiful.
(Nobody beats the CNYEFL and JWoops for this).

Everyone ignores their cell phones - at least while they are playing.
(Isn't that the point - to get away?)

Plenty of other people enjoy cheking out the game.

Default I think a league does need a marketing campaign

There's something about a league running like an NFL operation. I love the post JEasy but I would also add to that.

I think one of the most important things in attracting talent and creating a true-to-life league is everybody has to be on board with understanding it's not just about them, but about the good of the league.

Marketing is the lifeblood in taking leagues from being okay to great in that with the right marketing concept, you can get tv exposure, media coverage from local papers, etc. This in turn, brings new people into the leagues-guys who would have never known about what you are doing.

This allows for the creation of farm systems. Also, you've got to be able to allow creative thinking to take place. Allow for guys to use stadiums, have conferencing about games, a concerted effort to make everyone's experience the best possible. There definitely needs to be a serious commitment level and an understanding that you can lose just like anybody else. Check your ego at your car and don't just come and play just to win and get on the horn and tell someone, "Aw, yep I whupped his butt and he ain't all that".

That's just my take. Great list!

I will add these to Big Jims list.
I see he already put Beenutt VS. Reggie (cow"boys")
The rest I would add are:
1. Butch Carter - Chicago Bears
2. Lavelle Shelton - Pittsburgh Steelers
3. Brian Redmond - Atlanta Falcons
These come to mind right now may add more later.

Default My Vision of an Ideal League

Here's how to do a National League and maintain some alignment with the NFL:

(1) Make every NFL city/team a "Division" in the league.

(2) Assign every coach in the country to the division that is closest to them geographically. In other words, the NFL stadium that is closest in proximity to you would be the division you would play in.

(3) You can play with any team you like, but you need to have your team in both white and dark jerseys.

(4) After a champion from each division is determined, that champion moves on to the playoffs, but must use the team that represents his NFL city. For example: Jim Davis wins the "Detroit Lions Division" playing with his Oakland Raiders. In the playoffs, he can use his same bases but must have them on a Detroit Lions team.

(5) The Divisional Champion then qualifies to play against the other Divisional Champions in a weekend tournament. The NFL alignment determines the seeding. For example: Jim Davis/Detroit Lions would be in the NFC North bracket with Tom Ruesink/Minnesota Vikings, Frank Johnson/Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers Division champ. Each coach would play three games, one game against each of the other three coaches in the bracket. The coach with the best record (or tie-breaker) would win the bracket. That coach then moves on to the single-elimination rounds.

(6) The winner of the NFC North bracket might play the winner of the NFC South bracket. And the winner of that game will play the winner of the NFC East vs NFC West game for the right to play in the Super Bowl.

If it ever gets big enough, maybe NFL/City sponsorship could be a possibility!
