Default Clevend Rams

Yes, AL this is the Original Cleveland Rams before they moved to LA. They were also part of the 1936 AFL before joining the NFL in 1937.

Here is a comment from a Pro Football Encyclopedia about the original Rams:

The first new club in the league since 1933, the Rams played like an expansion team by winning one out of eleven games. The offense scored the least points in the NFL while the defense sprang for the most.
Coach Hugo Bezdek, the only man who managed a major league baseball team and coached in the NFL, built the squad from a slew of rookies, a few defectors from the outlaw American Football League and a handful of NFL veterans. Most of the rookies came from Midwest schools like Purdue and Ohio State and the gems of the bunch were back Johnny Drake, the club’s leading rusher, and center Chuck Cherundolo, a lineman, who would have a long NFL career. The team’s top passer, Bob Synder, left the AFL along with five others to join the new NFL franchise. Two veterans of the Chicago Bears, center Ookie Miller and tackle Ted Rosequist, helped bring the club some respectability

Post my first season

i will be starting my first season of solitare , in the northwest ohio efl, im reallly excited about it , only four teams , i wanted to keep it simple , and only rookie bases on my ironman teams, they are the toledo patriots, bowling green blitz, tiffin maulers and the delta dark knights, just awaiting my shipment of bases from miggle.

i havent completed my ruleset as of yet , but think they are coming along good, with f.o.b. tackling on runs , any touch on passes and special team play, 12 plays per qtr. and turn & burn rule for all recievers, more when its complete.

As a side note, in this day and age of where teams will fire managers and coaches after 2 or 3 bad seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers had only 2 managers in 43 years! Walt Alston managed the team from 1954 until he retired in 1976. Then Tommy Lasorda took over until he retired in 1996. I think that's an incredible record especially considering how quick teams have become to clean house since the late 70's or therabouts.
your talking basesball, its alot differant coaching 150 games,(i think thats how many games they played back then) compared to footballs 8 - 10 games

Close —147 was the number of regular season games up to around the 1950s or so, then it was upped to 154. It was around the time of Maris that the regular season expanded to 162 games, to accomodate the new expansion teams then entering the majors.

Default Final week of the regular season

I began playing the final week of the regular season. In the 3 games played so far, the Lions and the Bears tied 7-7 giving Detroit a final 1-3-2 record and the Bears a 0-2-2 record with one game left to play. Washington beat Philadelphia 14-6 leaving the Redskins at 2-3-0 and the Eagles at 1-4-0. The Packers completed their undeated regular season at 5-0-0 with a 16-14 win over the Rams and giving Cleveland a 1-3-1 final record. Tonight the Cardinals and Bears will play for the Chicago city title while Pittsburgh and Brooklyn will battle for the Eastern Division crown and the right to meet Green Bay for the Championship. STAY TUNED!!!

Default Week Five Results

Attached are the Week Five Results. In the final 2 games of the regular season, the Chicago Cardinals defeaed the Chicago Bears 13-0 to take the Chicago "City Title" and the Eastern Division Title went to the Brooklyn Dodgers as they defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on a last play field goal 10-7 to avoid a tie and a playoff game for the division title. The Dodgers at 4-1-0 will meet the undefeated Green Bay Packers (5-0-0) for the Inaugural Championship of the Music City Miniature Football Association's Solitaire League of Electric Football.

How much more old school can you get than to have the Packers wind up in the championship?

Default I agree

The teams that dominated the 30's were the Packers, Giants, and Bears. My biggest disappointment has been the Bears with the backfield of Red Grange and Bronko Nagurski. They haven't performed well at all. The Packers strength has been running which should have been passing with the Hall of Fame receiver Don Hutson. Since the offenses I am running do favor the run (the Single and Double Wings) this has not really been suprising. I am going to reevaluate my system before I play the Championship game and make this game as fair and realistic as possible and then rework each team to get all the players at least performing to an acceptabe level before continuing to the next season. I am thinking about doing some other teams for the next season such as replacing the Detroit Lions with the Portsmouth Spartans for one season. The Spartans played in 1933 before becoming the Lions in '34. Also will replace the Cleveland Rams with the Cincinnatti Reds for at least one season. The Reds played in the NFL in '33 and '34 before being replaced by the St. Louis Gunners for the last 3 games of '34. So I will have a team of St. Louis Gunners at some point. Will probably recreate the 1936 AFL at some point and play simultaneous NFL and AFL games for one season.

But to me that is the joy of solitaire, you can do so many things to keep it interesting and I love recreating the teams from the past. The 30's and 40's is really when pro football began to separate itself from the college game with different rules and more innovative play. But mostly I am just having fun playing the game right now which is what solitaire is all about.
