In the rules that I posted for my tournament, I'm using a variation of the shootout rules in combination with this. So, a chance for a fumble can occur if a ball carrier falls over, is tackled by 2 or more players (doesn't have to fall), or a sack occurs. If any of these happen, roll 3 dice (two the same color). If the single die is a "1" and the two other dice is 2-6,12, a fumble occurs. Then I roll an 8 sided die. 1-4 is a recovery by the offense (no advance) 5-8 is recovered by the defense (with a chance to advance).

What I've done is make it so that the dice are not the determining for a fumble to occur, but are used only if the above instances occur.

If you're testing things, maybe you can test this for me to see how it works out.

good idea ! The only thing I prefer is the use of sticks instead of dices...As a former wargamer, I hate dices, don't ask why

Default in my solitaire rules

i play the FOB style and a fumble occurs if an offensive guy is tackled from behind (which is rare and simulates a strip from behind). The Qb also fumbles if he is sacked from his blind side (a hard hit, my solitaire coach discretion), hit from behind or squarely hit in front, should he scramble.
