I found slabs of packing foam at the hospital loading dock where I work, these, after an idea by Jerry McGhee, I transformed into upright carriers which protect the base-prongs. An exacto, ruler, and sharpie are all you need.
I transport the teams in toolboxes which also house my kickers, qbs, tools etc Last edited by TVsCHACHI : 11-10-2007 at 09:20 AM. |

It took me a day or two to get the time for these photos but I finally got around to it. It's not the perfect system but maybe it will inspire someone with the know how to design something similar specific to a base and man. These are Mega Blocks. They fit nicely in a deep Plano box. If I could get around to it, I was going to buy enough so I could color code them by team or position. Ultimately, I would like to see them in clear.
They suspend the man keeping him safe in his own compartment and the base prongs never get touched. If the blocks openings were just a hair wider, bases would sit perfect and straight in them. The only issue with them at this point is that sometimes the men get stuck in there and you have to knock them out which would be cured with the opening being just the right size. Any body want to invest $10 grand and make the perfect mold? Oh, you maybe can't tell from the photos but the men are attached to the base. The other plus is it holds 66 men this way plus the QB's.

I have Mega blocks laying all over the house. I have 3 boys ! I never thought of using them, I also never turned a block over to look at it as a tray for electric football men. I am too busy trying not to step on them

I use the package that BuzzBall bases come in. The bases fit real nice and the players stands straight up without any bending of the prongs.

Nice Wolf!
And Thanks Fellas! _____________ Answering you cats: Lo, After measuring the dimensions of my toolbox I used a kitchen knife, a nice French Knife, about 14in, because its sharp and non-serrated (otherwise it'd rip the foam). The blade at its highest is about 3 inches, the length and height are important so you get a clean, straight cut. Wolf, those carriers took about an hour or so. First I draw out each rectangle with a sharpie and ruler, making sure they're as even as I can get, leaving enough room in between in case of 'base bulge'. Then with a fresh exacto blade I cut into the foam around my lines about 1.5 in deep, then use my fingers work the foam free. _____________ NewCastle, that's a great idea. A cat I play with uses the Pro-Line trays for his sidelines. He glued magnets onto the trays so they connect together, or onto the side of the board. re
Norbert, Warhammer has 2 sizes of cases. Do you know how many players each case will hold ? I do not want ot get a too small case.
