Default Working on a MF DVD

Kurt,

I am working on a "short" DFW MF DVD for recruiting purposes. I will probably try to get the league to fund this because these are DVDs that can be handed out at the Austin show. We are gonna be sending these DVDs to YMCAs, churches and sports organizations to grow the game in the DFW. Why not grow it in the state of Texas as well.

If we can get these done, we can hand out a couple of 100 at the Austin show. I am setting my schedule to be there. Don;t sit on ideas. Always bring them to the table!

Good idea guys.....I ran a game at a small wargaming convention here in Los Angeles and that is how I met Rick Garrison, his son, and eventually Bill Porche. I am the richer for it! With the kind of show you guys can put on, you might be the hit of the convention. If you guys ever put on one of these shows at a huge convention, then you will definitely make recruits. I just went to Origins in Columbus, Ohio. Wonderful and huge convention center.....full of folks into wargaming, role-playing, card games and much more. Reggie's stadiums would blow people away and he might easily garner awards from the show that carry a bit of weight in the hobby. I see no reason why it wouldn't be great for the hobby....most folks still inaccurately see it as the toy of their youth....fun, but not too useful....they will be SHOCKED by the advances in the hobby!

refer below to the answer for the Mellenium con. I'll go to the website to see about how to sign up to run a game. Any ideas on what time slot would be best? There are some games Friday night, a lot Saturday, and very few on Sunday because that's the flee market day where most guys shop and trade.

If you use miniatures, it would be unusual enough to give it a try for one or
two sessions. We cannot give you a separate room, so it will have to be in the
general gaming area and using a standard table...

Default Curtiis, the site is...

www.footballfigure.net!

Everything sounds great. Just tell us what we need to do and I am sure we can get a crew between the DFW League and the ACEFL that can make this possible.

Default Hey guys...

I'm sorry! I haven't been on the site much lately. A lot going on! However, I'd love to attend this. Reg., Curtis, R.J. & Rowan just let me know what's going on since I'm coming in at the tail end of this.

Thanks,

Default Millenium con 11 - update

Here is an update on this event:

We are cleared to run 2 games on Saturday afternoon and evening on November 15th. Our game number is MN19. Check the website for other information like when the session starts and location. http://www.millenniumcon.com/
For all who want to attend clear your calendar now.

We will run 2 games, and probably don't "need" anymore than 3 game masters per game, but other are welcome to come if need be. That would be a ref, a clock man, and a stat man because I think a stat sheet would be a great after game keep sake for the players.

The plan is that we'll have one of Reg's stadiums, and possibly some DVD's to pass out. Reg has mentioned that we might run some pre-game or post game interviews. Based on my expereince with the convention that might not work simply due to time and space, but I would suggest bringing it along in case it winds up being feasible. I'd suggest all EFLers who plan to attend bring there team (or there standby team if they are worried) because that will give the convention players a variety to choose from.

Also we'll need to keep in mind that these people have no idea how to play, and we'll probably have 30 to 45 minutes max to explain how to play fully. That means we need a somewhat simplified rule set to go buy, but it does not have to be printed up seperatly. I'm not suggesting we get too far away from the rules, but that just some of the complex items might be left out. An example would be that maybe we don't worry about taking scramble time out of the 20 seconds needed to pass.

I'll take the lead and pass all information on that is required. Once the day comes we'll all get togethor and set it up and get going. The convention has several vendors who will be there set up for all three days, and so if your interested Reg. you can inquire on the website for setting up a booth. That said I'm not sure there will be very many who are willing to plung in at the convention so it' might not do well. On the flip side there will be various terrain vendors who will have some things that EFLers might think is usefull to our hobby.

Let me know if anybody has any questions. Just post or e-mail.

Curtis

Default See the flyer attached for latest on the con in November.

There is probably going to be more room than thought so if anyone who can or needs to play a coach from the Austin or San Antonio area can probably get some games in during this weekend in addition to showcasing as planned.

If at all possible I would have a couple of hand painted / dry brushed custom teams to use. The wargamers live by this style of painting and customization. Just a thought.
