Default My first decal/paint job

My avatar depicts Freeney of the Colts - which is my first EF paint job in over 25 years! And very first decal job. I primed with white spray first. Then a couple coats of Testors ModelMaster Acrylic Insignia White. Then the base, arms, faces, shoes - using various MM colors. I like to vary the skin color - everyone not the same. Then decaled. Overcoated figure with 3 coats of MM Flat Acylic Clear. Helmet has 3 coats of Microscale Micro Gloss.
Specifically - gloss or flat, dirty or clean - to each his own - many teams wear the "sheen" pants now - with most jerseys made up of a few different fabrics combined.

Cool Smoother finish...

Dre,

Jayboy uses water to make the paint flow smoother off the brush. I (myself) use a Blending Gel from FolkArt to make the finish smooth.

Peace,

OldSchool

Default Painters....

I am an EFL Coach, I also collect AFX AURORA slot cars. I sent a couple of "painters" emails asking if they would be willing to paint a few "hard to find cars" so that i can place them in my collection and not go broke doing this..... Not 1 single reply. I know we are in the EF Hobby but a talent is a gift and I am sure there is someone out there up for the challenge

I have about 5 aurora slot cars , if you want them all you have to do is pay for shipping. They are from the early 70 's.

Question Coach check this out...

I love the art of EF and I also love love collecting AFX AURORA HO SLOT CARS. I am trying to get someone to paint 3 cars for me that were derived as concepts but never came into production. Please see pics and if you can do the work contact me with a price or please reffer me to someone who can.

What you want to do is paint your figures with acryllic paint (i.e., Apple Barrel, Delta, Americana, etc.), and apply 4-6 clear coats afterwards.

1. coat after the initial paint job.
2. coat before decaling (apply decals to wet figure)
3. coat to seal decals
4 & 5. + 2 extra gloss coats

What you will notice is that as you continue to seal the figure in the "skin" of the clear coat the little grooves and stroke marks made by your paint brush will even out and the figure will have a bright, glossy, almost "wet" appearance with the player safely sealed inside.

Note: Apply ALL decals for the figure you are working on in one shot. That means have them all cut out in piles beforehand. It takes 6-10 mintues to completely apply the decals to a single figure.

My figures made a big splash at the Miggle Tournament due to this painting and decaling technique.

Note 2: Always use a cheap and replaceable brush for your clear coat application as the polyurithane will eventually wear out a good brush.

Use Testors paint brushes instead (the white ones with the black bristles). They are cheap, and replaceable. Never paint and clear coat with the same brush.

Every person who I have shared this simple technique with has stepped their painting game up to the next level.

Enjoy,
