Who cares about dupes, we solved that in the CBSMF.

Oh.....I know we solved the dupes problem. I just thought it would be nice to be creative and make something that has our own personality. You know....it owes nothing to the NFL or NCAA....it is your creation and yours alone. I think that would give a national league a tremendous amount of character. It might better represent our geographic locations. Assuming that using a city name is not a trademark issue....or causes you to owe the city a dime for some stupid reason or another....everyone's team can have their city name instead of representing a college or pro team that might not represent your location.
Just trying to have a little fun and give us a chance to put together a league that owes nothing to anyone outside of our hobby. It would belong to us! |

Oh, yes I agree Robert, I am all for the idea of created/fictional teams, I like it, leaves the litigators hung out to dry.

It sounded good
I don't know, I thought about it and thought to myself, maybe someone else wants to lead this charge? Maybe someone else can do a much better job than me in being the person to lead something like this.
It was just a "what if" and I have my own ideas of what I wanted my league to look like or do but U really don't know if I would even have the interest to make this work. For me, support would be a huge thing and I wonder about that sometimes. Reg |

Well....is anyone else interested in a league of fictional teams? I could try to work with others to make it happen. I think it would be great for the hobby...and it should give some business to the folks who market the figures, bases and decals. Designing custom logos and helmet decals are probably going to be the hardest thing to handle, but I know we have some great artists in the hobby. You don't have to work too hard to field a team. Heck...an original pro or college team could be used (even Miggle pre-paints), just change the helmet and get rid of logos and you would be done!
We could create a contact list using e-mails for all the coaches in the league and you could play games against folks in other areas whenever you travel. We could try to organize some regional tournaments and such as well. There would be a poll periodically. Each owner gets one vote and we rank the teams accordingly. As an owner, you could not vote for your own team. We would set up the polls so that you need to have played a minimum number of games in each period to be eligible for receiving votes. I would like to have the whole thing run for free. Your only expenses are what it costs to field your team and get it to games. Another thing that would be great to see would be training days for players. Experienced coaches, take the stage and teach the inexperienced and learning coaches. Teach them everything you can....from tweaking to running plays. I know there are folks who don't want to share secrets....and you don't have to share it all....but we all benefit when knowledge is shared. New players become more enthusiastic when they learn and get competitive. Lots better than getting frustrated and quitting. Experience players get more new opponents who actually can challenge them and give them good games. I imagine this hobby has lost a lot of players from frustration....what a shame. I am sorry to make this so long.....just a lot of thoughts. I really love the game and want to see it grow. |

Reggie
No disrespect is intended by my post Reggie. I love what you do for the hobby and enjoy the CBSMF. I hope that continues. A pro league sounds cool, but I worry about all that licensing crud and hate giving the NFL any chance to rain on any EF parade. I know I won't have the time for another league as demanding as the CBSMF.....I barely have enough time to make myself competitive now. So...for me, the CBSMF will probably stay my only "big event" kind of league. I hope it keeps going in one form or another!
The idea I am proposing would probably be best for a low-key, less intense scheduling format....maybe limit teams to a smaller number of players (maybe 32 players?). Each coach keeps his own stats. If we don't have integrity, we have nothing. Just report scores to a league commish and they get posted for all to see. Perhaps put weight limits on different player categories, or limit a team to a certain number of players in each weight class...coach decides where to play them. All base types allowed, even frankenstein and boiled....but limits on numbers of each type. The smaller rosters would be less time-consuming to manage and create, but the various weight categories, base limits and the small rosters would make it challenging and interesting for even the most experienced coaches. What do you think? |

REG, FOLLOW THE CBSMF BLUEPRINT
REG,
I Personally think any pro, college and made up teams should be kept seperate. I feel we should do the pro league next. Once that is succesfull, then we can look into doing a league with teams made up by the coaches. As far as your idea on how it should look, FOLLOW THE cbsmf blueprint. YOU SEE HOW SUCCESSFUL THAT BECAME FOR YOU. Maybe you have been doing so much that you have not really sat back and took a look at how many coaches around the country are enjoying what you have put together. I MUST BE HONEST, I THINK THE PRO LEAGUE WOULD BE JUST AS BIG AS THE CBSMF. any football fan loves college and pro football simutaneously. MAKE SURE THEY ARE BOTH OPERATING TOGETHER. AS FAR AS THE NFL "IT'S JUST A LEAGUE' NO ONE IS SELLING ANYTHING. "DO NOT USE ANYTHING CLOSE TO THE NFL SHIELD." ***ON THE WEBSITE, IF IT'S A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. "JUST LIST THE CITY NAME FOR THE TEAMS " 1)MIAMI (COACH FRUST FIN FAN) 2)BUFFALO (COACH O.J) 3)NEW ENGLAND COACH J. FULTON) 4)NY (COACH J GRECO ) 5)PITTSBURGH ( COACH G.HARMON) ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC **** I DONT THINK ANYTHING SHOULD BE A PROBLEM IF YOUR NOT SELLING ANY NFL PRODUCTS. EVERYONE IS JUST PLAYING INA NON PROFIT LEAGUE THAT JUST HAPPENS TO KEEP IT'S STATS AND STANDINGS ON A WEBSITE. ***I may be wrong or not aware of, but does the NFL get a cut of alllllll the NFL items sold on ebay and other various website flea markets. ****JUST PRESENT IT AND RUN IT THE WAY YOU ENVISIONED IT**** BOOK IT AND THEY WILL COME. Remember, everyone does not openly post. YOU ALREADY SEE THE SUPPORT. LlKE ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE, PEOPLE WANT TO SEE OTHERS GET ON FIRST AND THEY WILL TRICLE IN LITTLE BY LITTLE. If you want me to help you do something on this let me know. mantaraydre
