More valueable? Easy...highly detailed figures (customized, painted, decals, customized, face masks, etc.). Its not even close to me. Not stock Miggle teams painted like my kids would do but some of the amazing customized stuff you see on this chat board. I feel I can get a good base in a matter of a few minutes, and a great base comes more often with a little luck than pure perceverence. Thats why if you have boat loads of bases like I do (and like many of you) your best percentage of getting great bases is to tweak up a bunch and expereiment with them. Am I short changing "great" bases compared to "good" bases? From what I've seen I really don't think so. There's no short cut to detailing these little figures and its very tedious work. If my house was on fire I'd probably go back in after the figures, not sure if I would risk it for the bases.

Now the field...a really good running big custom field...that may be the number one item you put on your christmas list to truely enjoy the hobby. I love a good running field!

Default .

I may have misread the question. I was posting as to what is more important in creating a winning team.

Default It's the shoes....

This is a tough choice because it's such a personal thing but...how many coaches have coveted those precious first run prolines (5-10 bucks a base)? How many of you have heard the stories of guys wanting to pay top dollar for an amazing base owned by another coach? I don't know how true it is but I've heard as much as a hundred bucks offered for a base. Now my bet is those coaches are serious competitors in league and tourney play but those guys are probably serious about their bases.

Default Figures or bases.

The bases are the most important part of the total "Player". I find it much more difficult to give up bases (even the ones I have screwed up trying to tweak) than to change figures on a given team. I have bags and boxes of bases, many have never even been opened. But I hang on to them because one day I am going to find that perfect base.

Bases are the most important to me. I will use the same base on multiple teams....but I don't feel the need to repaint a figure to use it on a different team. Tweaking takes time and special bases aren't so easy to come by. Heck, some rare bases are worth a lot before they are even tweaked (widetops, brown bases...original Frosties and R/L's).

Jim and Tony Jones was over my house working out with me when my cell phone rang, it was a coach who buys top dollar everything in this hobby, the coach offered me $800 for my league team bases (46 total), he was ready to put the money in my paypal account right there, I said no with out thinking twice,.............I guess it depends on the coach, I was never into customs that much, but love bases bigtime, I spent so much time on those bases that I just couldn't sell them,...........offcourse Jim and Tony told my wife (in front of me they did this) smile, my mouth dropped, I didn't know what to say when she ask me did someone offer you that much for bases.

P.S. 2006 Buzzfest, a coach comes to my room, asks me how much for my noseguard, I not wanting to sell him said $60, 2 seconds later 3 $20 dollar bills fell unto the board, I looked at him and shook my head, I couldn't say anything even though I didn't want to sell him.

P.S. Back in the day, the $100 dollar stories are very true.

P.S. Serious competitors is a true statement.

the stories are true!!!

here is one of mine form the 2001 Miggle Convention in Canton.....
... I had some Vikings with R.Smith at Rb... he was on a original R/L base that covered a 620 in 3 or less and ran in the hashmark the whole way.... well as this weekend was going on, the $$$$ was flowing everywhere.... well one of the guys from NEFL (name not given to protect the guilty) saw him running up and down the field and wanted this base badly.....I mean BADLY....
So I said give $60 and before I could take the player off the field 3 $20 was being tossed my way...

It has happened before, I don't know if it will ever again because of so many tweakers in the system now.

I believe it is the same in any "technic" or skilled hobby...see the price of some virtual objects or characters for computer games like World of Warcraft...quite insane

same thing in slot racing for the thunderjet tweakers too, a top notch chassis could be sell hundreds of dollars, even if the chassis cost only 10

etc, etc...any hobby where some competition exists, this phenomenon should appear, I guess ?
