Default LET ME SAY THIS ABOUT THAT

FIRST OFF, CONGRATS TO J.GOOD !!!!!!!!

***NO ONE TAKE OFFENSE AROUND THE COUNTRY. I LOVE ALL THE COACHES WHO EVER I CAME TO MEET.

GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

ONE THE COVER OF THE TWEaKS PAST ARE

1)JIM DAVIS

2)GREG HARDOM

AND GET READY FOR JAMEL GOOLOWE.

ALL GREAT LAKES.

ken allen has won tourneys in the past and he is always in the mix during recent times.

whether it is norbert, jim davis, ken allen, etc etc. THESE SAME NAMES KEEP SHOWING UP.

Anytime you drive more than 20 miles from your house, it is no longer consideed your back yard.

I SEE THEM IN ALL THE MAJOR AND SEMI MAJOR CITIES. It's funny, i have seen them a million times, BUT NEVER IN DETROIT !!!!!!!!!!!

Some where road warriors in the dfw and did a great job competing in texas.
i think jim davis lead in rushing before he left.

don smith told me long ago, your not a great coach if you cant compete in ALL THE STYLES OF PLAY. Why, the men still have to run up and down the board. You should be able to read a ruleset 20 minutes before you play and win. Thats a great coach. As a group, this is what they do, compete in any rule set given to them. It will never be just 1 ruleset, so they play them all.
This is all that is being acknowledged.greg hardmon played don smiths son in the seawall brawl championship during that tourneys hayday. As a group, one of them is always somewhere in the end. If you master just 1 style, your a good coach at that style. If you win everywhere, your a great coach period. This is why adrian baxter is respected around the country. It's not a lets pat the great lakes coaches on the back, the created a track record collectively which warrants them the best as a league/region.

No one is comparing there winnings with the rest of the world. They created a legacy over the years through travel and competition that is not matched at this time. The records prove everything.

1)buzzball
2)seawall brawl
3)cbsmf
4)miggle

You have to play the hand that is dealt to you, THEY ARE ALWAYS AT THE TABLE SAYING, GIN !

Since we are moving forward here's another name for you to start getting used to:

ALI ROZIER!

We allow you to get better here. Uplift your coaches. We got a bunch more coming.

No shots to the foot.

Support your leaguemates. Allow them the grow and so grows the hobby.

Right NEFL?

All from the DMV area, some of those guys in the Greatlakes not only good players but great people.

Dearell
So are all those mentioned and more. Young Salty is a beast. Tom Johnson et all. I don't believe the intention was to knock anyone here nor forget. When I played Corey I must say I was shocked at how good a passer he was and stategist. Back them DMV was showing up a Buzzball 12 strong. Nothing to forget there buddy.

Just my thoughts.

First and foremost congrats to Jamel for winning the crown this year at Miggle and to my homie Ken Allen for his great run(and I must say they are both GREAT fathers as well).
Well I am going to give MY opinion on this based on the original question by also another great coach and father. Although I have zero championships and many of you may have never even seen me play the game I feel that I have enough insight from the earlier days(I consider myself and old head) to give a fun based opinion, because yes at the end of the day its just electric/MF…but I love how it brings a competitive edge as if we were really on the football field…that’s how I played the game…I didn’t take it serious then and I don’t take this serious.

When I first got back in to the hobby in 1998 you heard about a lot of leagues and coaches who were considered “the best”….one coach cant make a league the best so this is what MY opinion is being based upon….the overall LEAGUE….

In the late 90’s the best league out there was the Dallas Fort Worth league. In my OPINION they set the tone for how leagues and tournaments should be. They had a lot of coaches and they were well connected with the West Coast coaches.
What the Dallas Fort Worth league brought to the table was like no other. My 17 hour drive with the legendary Dirk Thomas to play in the shoot-out was an eye opening experience. No other league in MY opinion has been able to present a league, style of play and accessories like this league. Talk about the pioneer of evolution to the game….Unbelievable. If you have only had the opportunity to experience this through photos you are missing out on a exciting world of EFL…how many places can you go, play a game of EFL in room with the lights out and the field lit only by miniature stadium lights with 2000 miniatures watching? The southern hospitality and BBQ, the best. A true laid back family atmosphere. To date the league continues to evolve and crank out great coaches, rules innovations and the promotion of the game year after year is outstanding on a league level. It may seem like a one may show but if you meet them all old and new you will see what I mean….oh and they can ball.

With the Miggle chat board leagues started popping up all over the place and making their presence known. But Fort Worth was way ahead of the pack.

Soon after that BAMA started to become a force to be reckoned with as one of their coaches made it to the Miggle Championship. Their BAMA Blast rose as a respected tournament and the league was full of strong coaches.

I then started to see the rise of the LAEFL. In the early days more coaches were able to afford to come to Miggle to compete with other coaches and they started to show they were more than just a league on the west coast. Due to the distance and expenses and just life in general their BEST coaches weren’t even able to make the long trips but the coaches who did show up were far from weak. Their league grew and in the early 2000’s you saw this league year after year creating some noise as the east coast west coast battle ensued.

As the west coast grew stronger so did the east coast leaving the Midwest to find their own identity. Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas started playing like crazy. For a minute there it even seemed like an in state battle as Philly took on everyone and even trying to bully their little Harrisburg brother. They always had a large number of coaches and if you met them they would try to ram plastic down your throat but at the end of the day you see why they call it the city of brotherly love.

Once my college tournament started to pick up steam(2002 timeframe) there was a mad rush from this state called Maryland. I don’t know if they party harder or play harder. They came with some old school smash mouth EFL. Maryland/DC started taking some names and making a few enemies(all in fun) along the way. The battle soon left the west coast and the fight soon came to the Midwest.

That enemy(all in fun and MY opinion) grew in to what we now call THE GREAT LAKES. That state up north( I HATE MICHIGAN…LOL) were a bunch of misfits trying to find their place as they had several leagues, styles and personalities. They would win, but they weren’t a unit. Once that happened after all of the dust settled, the rules were hashed out and personalities set aside(for some) they grew into a league that was able to maintain all NFL teams filled by coaches for several years. They started winning tournaments in the later years and grew into a “family” like no other league.
Theres plenty of individual coaches that could come in and beat the Great Lakes, maybe even smash then….but the BEST EVER is more than just winning with plastic men….
The Great Lake coaches are like brothers. They look out for each other and their families. They are great fathers, mentors and employees and business owners. They fellowship on the regular and they support one another. They have kids that I have known before they were born and the ones that have grown up still come up to me and are very respectful and now they look after my kids like this past weekend.
I’ve made some bad calls over the years because I am not perfect…but at the end of the day they ALL shake my hand and say nice job AJ(even though I know they say I cant stand that Buckeye’s ref’in..lol)
When you come to town no matter what league you are from, somebody will take care of you and make sure you get out of Detroit safely(LOL).
To me this question is more than wins and losses….

I know coaches from all over from the east to the west, the Midwest and the south…ALL great guys and individuals….Are other leagues like what I just described? Yep they sure are….each and everyone of them because in my opinion the leagues and coaches I know are just like what I described above….

So Jimmie..if I had to stamp a name plate on the plague for the current league who is the greatest it would be Great Lakes.

The greatest ever to date……DFWL…….just my opinion.

Notice...I didnt mention one name.....

AJ

Default Players?

Now Jimmie...if we go to players in a collective group for the entire league.....

1.Great Lakes
2.Maryland/DC
3.LA
4.Philly
5.DFWL
6.Bama

The numbers are there...and when you have numbers its easier to have several great coaches. I want to throw in some smaller leagues but they just have the numbers to support match up after match up...

Default Its an opinon and question

When you ask is the Great Lakes league best ever?? its a question get it D!!Doesnt mean that you or your league are not good players, its just a question! But if you look at the sucess those guys have had!Its hard not to think best ever. The great lakes guys are not just good players but are good ambassadors of the hobby, passionate about the game ,thats why they show with so many at a convention!!So to me they are the best ever!!
