Panzy Back ! Dang, that is too funny.
I agree with all you guys that say the NFL and thier rules are a big joke now. I played defensive end in the mold of LC Greenwood, Bubba Smith, Jack Reynolds, and other greats at that position. I even head-slapped a guy in high school for holding me (and took a penalty for it). I didn't tackle dirty, but I'd do whatever it took to bring a guy down, especially if he was bigger than me.
Williams should know better than tackle a qb like that, you can't hide anything in the NFL with so many cameras at the games. But they could relax some of the stupid rules to make for better games. Last time I looked, qbs wore pads and helmets too, therefore they should be fair game for big hits. Weirdwolf has a Panzyback on his Sumo team, I think his name is "Waxoff". One of my linebackers lit him up on a hit, and knocked him about ten yards behind the line of scrimmage.rtfl$ |

Think Out Side The Box
It is called evolution!!! Look guys have families and this is both a sport and a job. No more leather helmets. If you can understand that then stay on that path.
Football is a violent sport so we want to protect the players as much as possible so that they may play longer and we can enjoy seeing them play. Owner's want to protect there investmens " the player ". For many on this board have not played past high school, most have not played Semi Pro or Pro, so in that reguard it's hard to understand what you go through to keep you're self at top shape year end and year out. For a player to take a cheap shot at you and then hide behind " I was trying to make a tackle " is poor sportsmanship. I guess some of you think that what Mike Tyson did in the ring was cool  Bottom line it's sportsmanship, and respect for you'r fellow players. Every thing evolves in life, just look around you. Rules are put into place for a reason, to guide, control, and protect. When you know something is wrong and you do it any way then you get what is coming to you. You guys can try to justify all you want, but I bet you wont go out and break the law, knowing full well you're doing wrong, and if you get caught, what will you tell the judge ? Roy Williams broke a rule put into place to protect players, like face mask, clipping, chop block, crack back. You know if you take a chance and bend a rule and get cought you hurt not just you're self, but you're team mates, coaches, fans, and football as a hole.

As Far As I Know ...and I Have Played Football Beyond High School And College ......everytime You Step Out Onto The Playing Field You Do So Knowing That There Is The Possibility Of Getting Hurt....possibly A Career Ending Injury...and In My Humble Opinion They Have Softened Up The Game Of Football And In Some Instances Brought Down The Quality Level Of Football Being Played In The N.f.l....but Yes There Are Rules In Place That Need To Be Followed..even If It Does Take Away From The Game That We Learned As Children And Played With Vigor And Tenacity Well Into Our Adulthood......

You know, I dont like Rugby but look at Rugby. They have no pads, nail each other, and you never hear a cry. The NFL is starting to get weak......I'm a huge Cowboys fan but Roy Williams is just an average player. So, he tackles anyway he can....ala, Ronnie Lott. He can't cover a t.u.r.d. though...

Well as far as...
...protecting an investment goes, that's BS, Roy was making a play in a close game and he did what he had to do to bring him down. Grabbing the shoulder pads from anywhere is part of the player so you do what you have to do. Yeah Roy Williams is getting exposed this year for his coverage ability, but let me say this none of you past ballers like myself could withstand a Roy Williams hit head on. Please remember he is a pro and he didn't get there Ballet Dancing. I am a die-hard fan of the boys, but none of you on this board today could suit up and go out and run man for man with any receiver in the game, so with all the hatred please stop. It kills me to see the fan CRITICIZE a PROFESSIONAL on what he is doing wrong and what he can and cannot do.
I get tired of the everyday man saying Roy is a average player, for goodness sake people he is a pro, none of you can withstand a pro training camp right now and probably not in your prime, if you could you would either have been in the league or would be telling us about it. Keep in mind I think Dallas needs to get Roy off the field on definite passing situations but I am not the GM nor the Coach so who am I to say he shouldn't be on the field. Back to the tackle shoulder pads are part of the offenive player and if Donovan gets hawked by slow ********** Roy he needed to get horse collared. |

Horse collar is a good rule
Its a good rule. Just like the facemask penalty rule is a good rule. Just like no chop blocking an engaged d-lineman is a good rule. Just like clipping is a good rule. These rules protect players from known occurances that have a high rate of major injury without taking away from the spirit of the game.
For Roy Williams the horse collar tackle is just instinctual, and now that its a penalty its like a bad habit. Doesn't mean he's a bad guy or a bad player.

ME vs. ROY
I must say I've seen him crush a guy or two dozen, but if he blitzed thru my O-line and I was assigned to kill the blitzer, he'd be on his arse more than I'd be on mine. Even right now today I'd jack that fool in the air 9 outta 10 times! Blocking downfield? He's toast! Me running up the gut - FB Smash - if I get past the LBs and he's the last man, he's gonna get some size 12 Air Sharks all up and down his chest!!! They'd name a penalty after me - The Jimi-Jam Tap Danced on Roy's Chest Foul!!! rtfl$
Since that won't happen, let's do this. I'll make a mini-Jimbo FB pose (3.6 grams) and you make a Roy Williams-Rowland pose (3.2 grams) and we'll just play Smash 'em Up and Crash "em Up Derby next time we meet, ok? rtfl$ |

Nfl Network
On the NFL Network they talked to T O about Roy Williams tackle, and another one of there team mates.
When they name a rule is named after you, you might want to think twice about how you tackle. His own team mates hint at the fact that Roy is wrong. It's about keeping the players safe in a violent sport, and to reduce the chance and risk of serious injury. Many of the one's who read this post wouldn't say what they say if they were the one's hurt by such a tackle.
