All right, we have a lot of new coaches on board since last year. I am digging up a Holiday thread I started last Christmas with the hopes some of our new coaches can add to it.

Default Christmas 1970

I think that is when it was, ..................I had a 500 about four years prior. but when the NFL teams were released, it rekindled the fire. I remember seeing the Bears Cardinals at Sears, and showing my mom. Back then they actually displayed the game in a case, ........it really sold the sizzle!

That Christmas morning, there it was after I tore off the wrapping paper.

I remember the shine of the players, and my dog grabbed a Cardinal figure and chewed on it and the base, but I was able to save it before it was too bad, but the figure lost an arm.....

I remember wearing out the switch and redoing the switch with a paper clip so that you would just squeeze the switch...............back then there was no such thing as base tweaking, so I played multi stop................. I had a league and keep individual stats the whole bit...

And that brings me to this Christmas, it was Christmas Eve Eve, to be exact, this past Tuesday. The kids had their last day of school for Christmas break, Spike's buddies were over at the house having a great time, and I reminded Spike that this was BuzzBall league night.

To make a long story short,........... his two buddies wanted to come along and watch the games. So we had all these games going at the Pizza shop where we play, good close ones too, and the Christmas lights were all around the shop, and we were all having a great time, laughing and teasing each other, ...........and I remember taking a step back and taking it all in, seeing everyone having a good time, ...............watching my son show his two buddies how to play, and thinking, .....Man, the good Lord gave me a great son, and I can't ask for much more when looking around and seeing people having fun with one of the greatest games ever created (IMO)!!

I don't remember my very first game vividly, but I know it was at Christmas and it was one of those real small boards with the white and red players.

But, I remember getting a new board and players just about every year. But, one of my best memories as a kid was I know that I had the Packers and the Rams one year and the Rams had a RB named Willie Ellison, I think was his name. Anyway, I made Willie one of those Tudor RBs with the long stiff-arms and when he would get caught up with another player and go round and round, I would start singing "Willie Go Round in Circles!!" over and over to the tune/music of the Billy Preston song "Will it go round in circles". Even today, when I see players dancing in a circle like that, i sing "Willie Go Round in Circles" in my head.

Default Making more memories...

today with my son.

First annual Saint Nick Showdown

Event name coined by my daughter on our way to candlelight service last night!

This is our first year playing together in the CNYEFL and we are in the same division/conference.

Nick's Bengals edged out my Packers 17-15 in the last meeting.

This game is for first place in the division and a top play-off seed.

We will be posting all th info and pics from the game in a thread in the leagues section.

I remember my first game, it was a 500 with the Colts and Packers with the
H type goal posts. I loved that game, until I got my 620 board with the Cowboys and the Rams. On Christmas morning no other toy or game mattered. Seeing the box under the tree was the best. I'd watch Monday Night Football and play waiting for my Dad to come home from work. He'd listen as I told him all about the game I had just played. I played that game up until Katrina when it washed away. I miss my Dad and one day I'll get another board like it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.....

It was 1972 and my parents got the tudor game from a Belk-Tyler store. I was 7 years old. I still have the board and the 2 teams , Dallas Cowboys and L.A. Rams , blue and white uniform. I think its a #620 board but not exactly sure. Its still in the same box too ! I would even sneak up into the attic and play when it would be cold outside and even colder up there ! Ah , what sweet memories !

OK, I am bringing this thread back to life, Holiday time is here, we have more new coaches on board this year, time for them to share some memories with all of us.

I know I can come across on this forum as one big A-hole and trouble maker at times, but I do love the hobby and some of the best memories of my childhood evolve around EF, so I tend to get a little nostalgic this time of year.

Come January it's back to being an arse again!
