Boston 21
"I have around 8 running backs on my team on Tudor bases and they all were falling down at three different spots ( I think this is where the motors were placed)"
Doug what you have to understand is with the right base and the wrong figures the men are going to fall down,
i played on a Grass field 620 board with a field cover on it , one motor on it not 3, there was nothing wrong with the field.

one more thing if none of my men feel down and some of mike's men fell
with the board speed the way i like it, then may be mike had the wrong bases on the wrong figures,

I'm moving on, the box beat me with a little help from mike
and the board speed.
i had 3 int's and 1 TD called back using the box to mike's none.

mike is a great champ in the dfw, and a great coach

but can he play out side the dfw and win ?
mike come and play in the great lakes EFL this season my friend
I'll pay your league dues and will have a place for you to sleep.
all you got to do is come and play and have some fun.

I'M MOVING ON TO BUZZFEST 09 AND WILL BE THERE ON 3/26/09

Default JUST BEING NOSY, BUT

coaches,

Home field advantage is exactly what it advertises. A visiting team can't come into seattle and tell the crowd not to make noise when they are on offense. I personally DONT like the boards up too high because you cant enjoy the game. It becomrs a track meet. There is nothing more annoying than having your players fall down. I don't thnk the boards were designed to be turned up past a certain playable level. It's like these kids blasting there music on ten in a jeep with speakers added for sound. When they turn it up too high it becomes muffled a bit. But they like to blast the music coming down the streets.

Haiti repro's are supposed to be the most balanced figures on the planet. if you have your haiti's falling over in various spots on the field then somethings wrong. I was speaking with don a while back and he told me a fkgure on a base is not actually sliding. They go through a series of bounces to move. They bounce so fast it takes on the characteristics of a slide and move. If there was a way to slow it down for the naked eye to see on camera. The players hop like a frog or grasshoper. Moving fast they slide like a snake.
My understanding is the figure, base and board all must work with each other for perfect performance. BASE MUST BE TWEEKED AND SNIPPED EVENLY. PLAYER MUST BE BALANCED EITHER NATURALLY OR BY ADDING WEIGHT. I HEAR THE HARDEST PART OF THIS IS GETTING THE BOARD RIGHT IN REGARDS TO BALANCE AND SUPERIOR MOTORS.

THE HOME TEAM SHOULD HAVE HIS BOARD ADJUSTED TO HIS AND HIS PLAYERS LIKING. IF YOUR THEE AWAY TEAM YOU CAN'T ASK FOR FAVORS. People are trying to win a ball game. YOU JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO IT RIGHT BACK WHEN HE HAS TO COME TO YOUR HOME BOARD. dON SHULA USE TO HAVE THE GRASS WATERED DOWN IN VARIOUS SPOTS. Some coaches fixed it where ther audio would not work on the visitors sidelines. Some visiting teams didi not have heat in there lockerooms and on the sidelines in cold weather games. Teams have there little tricks.

I guess a nice answer to this is to change there cleets (bases). Practice at home with that figure at moderate speeds and super fast speeds. Find him a base for both speeds so you can interchange during any given moment. practice on a field with the speed turned up as high as tolerated. THEN TEST TEST TEST. You will find some base/figure combo that will not fall over.

Inreguards to the box , I would have passed regular and say forget the box if I were you .
I think you had another game where you had a few interceptions ina game down here ( on the roll)

Default WOW!!!

I'm going to squash this thread! Mo, when I'm in New York at the BAM whatever the rules are at that time then I'll play by them. I didn't speak to you on this post because I had no reason to. This is on line chatter and for me, it stays online. I love big Jim and he knows that.

Jim, I'm working on taking you up on that offer. I should have something for you in a week or so.

Default Home Field Advantage

When you're playing at home are you in tune with you're team and how they work on you're board.

There are areas on you're board that some of you're players shine, areas that you're team performs at it's best.

The visiting team has to learn how there team runs on you're board, they are at a disadvantage, however if you don't know you're own home field as you should then you're loss.

I thank God that I have never lost in Carolina!!!! In 4 season in the MPFL I have lost 2 games out of 31 games played, undefeated at home!

Coaches it's is a advantage if you know what to do and how to use it. You're home field is like a member of you're team, think of it like a 12th man.

The key is practice, and having a keen eye for detail to see how players perform in areas of you're field.

The proof, look at you're self and ask, how many games have you won /lost at home ?

Default COMMON LAWS

Regardless of ALL the chatter, there still should be 2 "common laws" when it comes to home fields: players aren't falling (home or away, doesn't matter) unless they're getting CRACKED and fast enough to cover KRs.

If I'm the visiting team, that's ALL I personally worry about. If my guys are running in quick sand and the home team is lickety-split, we have a problem that could most likely be fixed with a lil extra board time. That's why most NFL teams fly in a day early to run on the field they're playing on on Sunday! I think the NCAA does the same thing, unlike when I played semi-pro we hit a field that had 6-inch crabgrass and as soon as the sun went down, the "skeeters" were carrying players off the field and fans out of the bleachers!!! When I looked over to the home side of the field, they had spotlights and flamethrowers to keep their fans comfy!?!?!?! THAT'S HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE!!!

Anyway, the biggest recommendation I have when it comes to hfa's is that they should be voted on by the entire league. I think the GLEFL does this. All teams "field test" the proposed home fields and vote whether they ar worthy of gameplay, I believe.

In any case, the Away team's coach should line his KO team on one 30 and his KR team on the 50 and run a coupla KOs. Then he should either fix the bases that don't work; sub in some other players or run with what he's got i.e. the trainer didn't bring the right cleats! If you get caught with 22 players all on the same kind of base, you're prolly screwed on some fields. Suck it up and take it like a man. Be prepared next time.

However, if we just wanna play and see who's da man, then we should level the "field" as much as possible i.e. Tournaments.

In a league situation, rules for home fields should be in WRITING so that when the Playoffs start, there's NO misunderstandings. Break out ALL of the fields during a few pre-season rounds and everybody should test their guys on different fields so they know what they gotta prepare for. Sharing scouting reports plays a big part in regards to fields as much as evaluating the other team's superstars!!! BE PREPARED is what I always say.

Now if we're talking, Pledge vs. Windex to gain an advantage over the away tem, then I'm with RD...next!
