Just my opinions.
I wasn't thinking about the fantasy idea when I developed this proposal. You can still create a fantasy team and use it, but the fantasy idea is unconnected to this one from my standpoint.

You are only left out of this if you don't play anyone. If you have guys you can play that are MFCA members, then you are in. It is entirely up to you if you play the 8 games and if you are willing or able to make a trip here or there to get some games in. You don't have to be a part of a league but you are going to have to compete against someone. If finishing at the top of the MFCA League isn't important than you can still rack up some points and see where you stand in the grand scheme of things. I personally am sure to be somewhere around 200th out of 199 coaches but the next year maybe I'll beat Ravenna Al and move up to 199th. That's a win for me!

This is the only fair thing to do - especially for the coach who wants to and will hang 60 on you whenever he can.
I think we can reqiure full games if we put a cap in place for the amount of points. The other positive to capping the points is it will help balance out rules sets so that someone playing NEFL who's league average score may be 21 can stay up with the CBSMF who's league average score may be 27 ( I don't know what they average, but am just using these as examples)

This is a good point. Some league rules may only get 40 plays in a game, while others like the Shootout system may get 60 or 80. That makes a huge difference in points scored in a game.

Default WEBSITE AND DUES

WOLF,

I did not read all the post so can a website to created here with team standings, stats, newes, points, etc etc.

Just in my opinion, I would rather see ten MFCANL GAMES SEPERATE FROM ANY ESTABLISHED LEAGUE GAMES. iI really think that should be seperrate.
Like college, i am all for running up points. There should be a bi weekly poll showing results of said games.

ALL COACHES SHOULD KNOWLEDGE OF ALL RULESETS.

**GOING BY POINTS, LIST ALL COACHES FROM 1 TO 150 OR HOWEVER MANY JOIN. Rank the coaches according to their points.

**at the 2010 MFCA CONVENTION, hold a massive playoff scenario.

If it shakes out that the # 1 seed plays the #2,3,4 or 5 seed. tHE NUMBER 1 SEED GETS TO CHOOSE WHICH STYLE OF PLAY DURING PLAYOFFS.
This goes for all higher ranked seeds (brackets).

If the 7 seed plays the 10 seed. The seven seed can say i want to play shootout rules style of football. The 10 seed cant suggest another style because the 7 is ranked higher so tyhat is his reward for doing better during the season.. These rankings and brackets must be set up early so if the 7 seed plays ten. The 7th seeded coach can post well in advance his desired style of play and the 10 seed must familiarize himself with the chosen style of play for that game.

***YOU WANT TO CONTROL YOUR OWN DESTINY IN THE PLAYOFFS. RUN UP THE SCORE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN DURING THE REGULAR SEASON . THIS WILL ALSO PUT COACHES ON THEIR P'S AND Q'S IN REGARDS TO DEVELOPING DEFENSIVE SCHEMES TO KEEP FROM GETTING BLOWN OUT.

***You can play all your games with the style that is most comfortable for you. But when or if you get to the playoffs and all of a sudden your faced with a style you never played before. WELP, DA PRESSURE IS ON THEN ISN'T IT.

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN, TO PLAY YOUR WAY AT THE 2010 MFCANL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Default STANDINGS

Also, on the website can there be three seperate divisions that won't affect teams rankings

1)pro team division

2)college team divsion

3)fantasy team division

***THESE TEAMS GET SEPERATED IN THE STANDINGS

**** BUT ALL GET MIXED AND MATCHED ON THE VOTERS/RANKINGS POLL.

THANX

All things are up for discussion but one of the tenants of the MFCA is that we are here to promote and help, thus, starting a league that would require other games to be played would put us into a competition scenario with other leagues and this is something we do not want to nor can we do.

With the proposed scenario, you can take games played in the DSEFL and the MPFL or any league and count them toward your 8 games. Suddenly, you are not only competing for a MPFL or DSEFL trophey but you are working toward the MFCA trophey as well without putting any more extra effort than submitting a sheet to Kansas Bill (the MFCA stat man).

We would definetly post up info on this site regarding the league, records and points and many people will be watching carefully to see how the opponents they beat in previous games are doing because of the points they get from their opponents wins.

Read through the thread and get back in the discussion. I think that this is something that can go along ways towards a stronger MFCA and larger convention scenarios.

Default Hmmm.....

Interesting topic...

I can't find it, but I think you've proposed that the coaches, in the championship game, can pick the rule-set of choice. If this is the case, that means that each coach must be well equipped to play any/every style.

The thing about this that concerns me is that, if you're not equipped, you will get embarrassed. Ex: Championship Game.... If coach A has a 4.1 team and an unlimited weighted team and coach B selects the DIXIE League rule-set, coach B must be prepared with an unlimited weighted team or risk total obliteration. So, your teams must be prepared and equipped not just for various different styles, but also for various different weights.

The point cap is also very interesting and is something that needs to be considered for the reasons Chetdakota has mentioned.

I will have the think about the rest of this. Very interesting...

Adrian brings up very good points about rules and figures/base/weights for the National Tournament. I know that you do not have the answers now but these are very important things to discuss. Maybe this is the impetus to finally decide on an official MFCA Rule Set? Not that I am holding my breath...

Default CAN YOU DO A VOTING POLL ON

coaches wanting to play the current styles available or see a MFCA RULESET developed. The weights, speed of games and the number of play in a game could turn outto be lop sided once everything is tallied up.

A plays per game cap may need to be incorporated. No matter what style after let say 40 plays, thats where your stats and points will be created from. In other words, if you play in league and 80 plays are the norm. The game will continue after the 40th play ofcourse but you only get credit from 1 to 40. This means break your neck in the first half dong all you best work during your 1 to 40 cap. Run up the score at this point because 41 and beyond will only count towards your local leagues stat.

I FEEL A MFCA RULESET SHOULD BE CREATED FOR THE PLAYOFFS AND SUPERBOWL. In other words, you done everything you can in your favorite style to get to the playoff point. Now you must shift gears and win in the playoffs using a different ruleset that is universal for all coaches. coaches approaching the playoff point KNOW THEY MUST UNDERSTAND THE OFFICIAL M.F.C.A RULESET. I dont think any coach would be upset because you did not ask them to play by the mfca ruleset all season long. ONLY IN THE PLAYOFFS. Thats a nice balance.

If there are a group of coaches who are not a part of any said league. Let them have the option of having a universal ruleset to play with also. This goes for any coach. let him have that option.

1) It's your rules during the regular season

2) It's the mfca rules for any and all playoff games

I think this is fair for all !!

Adrian, you may have just "grabbed the chicken's neck". (farm term for, that will kill it) After all these years, there has got to be some kind of simple resolution to this issue. Dre, in his last post, may have touched on it but my experience so far with achieving any kind of universal rules without half the membership jumping ship has shown that this is an impossibility.

I would really prefer that we had two weight catagories to come prepared for, but that leaves out MPFL (unlimited weight I believe) and then you got leagues that continue to jump up the 4.0 to 4.1 and more. Even 3.2 became 3.3 so where does that leave us....washing the hogs (another farm term meaning, "a pointless-never ending discussion")
