Reginald,
Yes, we actually did have decals first. I will give Mike credit though, he was the first to market them to a wider audience. Plus, yes...Munro had directional bases, but I thought they were absolute crap, never used them. It was only my brief stint in the DFW that opened my eyes to what was being done by Reg and the other guys. Wanting more, we developed the ITZ dials.

hmmm....we also were the first to make two-colored numbers (released the first set at the first Texas Shootout). We were inspired by the awesome work being done by Larry Walker (whose custom figures we saw at the first Miggle convention), and I think we were the first to mold custom figures in RTV.

The first non-tudor or major EF maker bases were made by a guy named Bruno Clark.

Boiled...no doubt in my mind that is Vince...saw him at the first Texas Shootout...he KILLED people!!!

First major collector, Roddy Garcia followed by Mark Newell

First EF Website...me (a college project)

First large tournament not hosted by Miggle...Reginald and the Texas Shootout

First Stadiums...of course...Reginald. I remember hearing about them at the first Super Bowl, but we were too busy playing to see them. We were in absolute awe when we did!

Large Board...definitely Matt Miller...no doubt! Was so impressed I paid him to make us one and drove to Chicago to get it

Plastic Figures for EF...of course, George Diamond...still very impressive today. Not sure if he went in with Bill Grant on this project, probably someone with more knowledge of that camp can fill us in on that. Second of course was Reginald's, still the best hands in the business (an absolute must for customizers)

first non-tudor felt balls...Bill Grant (still my favorite ever, though I really like the ice cream sandwich balls from Miggle)

That is all I can think of for now...anyone disagree?
Mark

I am enjoying this. Be careful people, just because you used something "early on in the hobby" does not mean you get credit for it.

Come on, let's keep it real.

I see a lot of hearsay already.

Default Steve Martin

I thought I heard something about Steve Martin and stadiums Early on....I think he had something to do with miggle's stadium? Or was it Reginald Rutledge? Lambeau Field?

Good point Shabby,
Here is the dilemma. I was there in the beginning of us all getting together, So I have first hand witness of these things, as do many people including Reginald. However, perhaps someone DID boil bases before Vince Peatros did, but how could they prove it? Heck, I could say "I made custom boards and figures and all kinds of things before anyone when I was playing solitaire...disprove me!" Of course, we could not.

So, is this a who did these things first that we can prove, or just who wants to claim them?

Mark

Love Steve's work, and one of the best guys in EF. However, Miggle was working initially with Reginald on the stadium idea, and turned to Steve only after talks broke down. The first I heard of a stadium is the first time any of us got together in a more then regional setting (The Miggle Super Bowl).

Default Some great history talk going on here!!!

Glad to see my main man Marc Thompson getting credit for the Field cover concept...........and nobody is arguing that one!

It's hard to argue with Mark K. he was around way back in the day. I wish Myron Evans would post more, he was around as well.

How about Wally Jabs........I had asked who started tweaking or using that word, and he said he did!?
So that's a first.

And I want payment for any person or league using the term

Default MAY BE THE FIRST

Coaches,

I may be the first MFCA member to have walked into the TUDOR factory and bought a team directly. I would say 1973 or 1974. Live across the street so was here on a regular basis. Or should i say BASES ! THIS HAS TO BE RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE FIRST MAN ON THE MOON. It was only a few years later !!! lol.

long live the tudor factory. I still smell the plastic cooking. SERIOUSLY !!

I have been using that "tweaking" word for over 35 years. me and mike williams in lansing michigan in his basement when we were 13 years old. I introduced him to Norbert and Jim Davis back in 2006.

If this wasnt mentioned, it should be because its the future, maintstream future cause it is here now..........

Internet telecast - Reg Rutledge. Cutsomizing figs classes, games on line, live from cats apartments, etc. This is HUGE for the times to come.

If it was mentioned, sorry for the repeat. Didnt have time to read through all the comebacks posted.
