Skin Tones
Mozeek - thanx for the compliments!
I use the paints in the pic...or shades of each... On the left is Model Master Acryl Skin Tone Warm Tint On the right is Americana Burnt Umber In the middle is a mix of both Since the types of paint are different, the mix is a little tricky...you have to make sure you mix/shake it before each use...I am sure Americana makes a paint similar to the one on the left...I just had these when I started, so that's what I worked with... I'll start off with one of these three...and then lighten or darken according to the figure...usually adding one of the two end colors or sometimes a little flat black or flat white to the mix... |

Man, I Can't Stand The Steelers, But....
The Franco Harris You Got On Your Signature Is Off The Chain In Accuracy. Your Homefield Playing Table Is Hot Too. How Can I Get Both The Figure And The Table Board???

Appreciate the nice words....
from everyone...
The field took me a while and I still have some issues with dead spots. The cover on the field is a large vinyl adhesive "sticker" that I had done by a friend who owns a sign company (so he did it for me as a favor!). I did the design (in Photo Impact) and they took care of the printing. He told me he would normally charge about $100 for the print (24" X 48"). The frame is just pine...then painted with flat black first, then an overcoat of Rustoleum Stone It. I bought motors off of Pit Couture. They work great! I think the dead spots are from the fact that I have not attached the board to the frame yet (at least I am hoping). In any case, I don't think the motors are my issue. All in all, it ended up costing me more than I expected it to...and right now, it looks better than it plays. If you take into account the fiber board, the pine, the field cover, the motors, the legs, the paint and then the other materials...and the mistakes I have made along the way...it cost me over $300 to make this board. In ALL honesty...and I don't usually endorse products...you would be better off buying a Football Figures 308 or similar Buzzball type board. I think Reg and Coach Rip have their processes down to a science. Last edited by SteelerFan1967 : 04-07-2008 at 09:43 AM. Reason: I mentioned the wrong member name...sorry Pit! |
