Norbert,

You are right there is nothing wrong with 3.2. And I know that you and the GLEFL crew know how to make them run!

Ken,

Thanks for the insight... isn't there always somebody looking for a loophole in the rules. Yes, we met in Philadelphia... a while back.

Wally

Well shoot... even the NHFL went to 3.3...
Mainly cuz even some of Miggles standard TTC's that have been around forever can come in at over 1.2 (w/ a 2.0 figure)...

I think we're at 3.3 in the Tornado Alley..

The thing is.. I wouldn't necessarily call 3.2 to 4.0 "progress"... It's just a different way to play.. Which equals more options.. and options are a good thing..

I enjoyed the 3.2 NHFL/Tornado Alley.. the 3.3 Tornado Alley.. and I'm looking forward to getting BACK into the groove of things and planting my arse in Dallas/Ft. Worth for a shootout and a team tipping the scales at 4.0.. It's all good.

Default Ok Mr. Jimbo, sounds good buddy

But remember, and it is true, you saw all play, but what you saw was tournament teams, which is based on more speed (ATT), League teams, (smile) I think are alittle different.

P.S. I think this would be fun, we can do this at Miggle, it would have to be friday night though, I would like to take my shot at him 1st.

Default Not All in the GL are die hard about the 3.2 rule

I'm a great Lakes coach who plays mostly at 3.0 to 3.1. However, I think with the change in the base weights the rule could be tweaked to 3.3 since most bases from miggle out the bag are 1.3 but i'ts no biggie on the weights. I know we have two leagues in the Detroit area and they most likely will stay at 3.2 mostly because we use a lot of buzzball and haiti repos but primarly because our in house customizers can create any figure to meet these weights. With that being said I'm sure many of the coaches wouldn't have an issue with creating tournament teams to meet 4.0. Heck I'm like Mr. Rutledge I just like to play. We REALLY like Mr. Rutledge figures so I'm sure we will come up with something to bring them into the Michigan/Ohio/Indiana/Illinois electric football experience.

Default Jamel, How the Times Have...

changed?

Coach, you know I've got much love for you. Always been a supporter. I remember a day in Detroit when FF.COM figures were taboo. Jim Davis was the first person EVER to spend out on FF.COM players so I will always support what my boy do.

Then it was guys like you who would buy some here, some there and I would send extra things to you. I thank guys like you who have supported my efforts over the years.

I know I have been more like the "black sheep" in the game of miniature football but I hope the tenacity and spirit that I have shown will continue to be appreciated by those who are patrons of what I do. Guys like yourself, I am truly appreciative of because I never had cheerleaders behind me. All I ever asked was give me and my product a chance. I work tireless for the game of miniature football and a guy/company with lesser will to succeed probably would have left the game years ago for greener pastures.

I just want to thank you for the little things that you've done that you may never have known you did. I some day hope to meet you and give you a big handshake and hug as I know we are brothers.

Thanks Coach!

Reg

Jimbo I will take that bet.The brawl or somewhere will be fine. You do talk alot of smack about Great Lakes members talent and the talent has increased since you played in years past. You are very talented person to but a few guys can tweak strength and speed alot better than others.Look at the buying forum.I do think you can tweak a 3.2 team to be stronger than a 4.0.As for how well they run I am getting ready to do a FF team in michigan so we will see.I cant wait to get them done.

As others have stated even with the miggle ttc going up in weight you kinda have to go up to 3.3.

Default Keep the newbies in mind...........

Ken and viking10 hit the nail on the head...........

This post had a bit of elitist tone about equipment/way of playing is THE way to play and the OLD way is primitive.

And yes, I have played weighted before……………. I choose to have my potential coaches pool larger by playing with the existing standard, then to limit it by playing a weighted format……………………plain and simple, a lot of guys are not into that yet…. If playing weighted is a great way to play I’m sure over time it will gain acceptance, but we ain’t near being there yet.

New guys are not looking to add this and custom that, ..............they just want to play, ...............and keeping this thing basic is the way you get more new guys in the hobby, compared to having all the hoops to jump through to be competitive. .

Most of them have their old stuff from the 60's, 70's, or eighties, and they just want to play.

I know for a fact the Harrisburg BuzzBall League would not have had the 16 guys in our league this season had we employed extremely complicated rules and had extra hurdles for guys to jump over to make a weighted team to play AND be competitive......................yet we have a rgeat time and are very competitive.

I think the 3.2 3.3 thing, which is a misnomer to begin with, is only going to grow, NOT go by the wayside, ………………………because we are growing the hobby!

The current figures being made at 1.5 -2.0 grams IS the standard as long as Excalibur and miggle continue to be in large scale retail outlets selling to the masses……………and making little boards with low power,………………..come to think of it, ……….guys wanting to play on “scale boards”, ………………wouldn’t it be easier to have smaller guys than what we have now?, ……………..yeah, now THAT is having a MORE realistic way of playing, without all the space constraints of a current big board…….

I think most guys are strapped for leisure time, so it makes sense to have a baseline way to play with basic equipment…………………have it simple and easy for guys to start to play…and by having it basic, guys can be ready to play because they just got a new set for Christmas AND they can be somewhat competitive RIGHT AWAY, without having to learn how to add weight, shave weight, boil bases, etc………… Guys, we are selling this and one must strike while the iron is hot……………..get them to play right away.

Correct me if I am wrong,…………………… but isn't the goal to grow your local leagues AND grow the hobby?

I havent read the entire thread but at the Texas Shootout last year all but two players on my team were 3.2. I played Beenutt and he tied me on the last play of the game. He ran 4.0. I lost my games due to being out coached. I doubt anyone noticed that my figures were 3.2 and if they did they didn't say anything. My lines were tweaked by Norbert and in some cases they matched up or pushed the opponent...now if my coaching matched my players base ability I might have something

Good discussion from what i have read so far...hope it didn't go sour anywhere.
