Dimitri, I think when you are finshed with that figure, that you should mail him to me so that he can be entered into our painting contest at the next convention. I promise that you mght get him back....... someday......if you're lucky..... maybe even before you pass away....

Well...if I complete a custom fig in...let's say 30 hours, and I start sending it to you...maybe in 2034 I'll be able to make a game with a complete team
More seriously, the modelling contests are interesting. I'll see that. Dimitri |

Dimitri,
Point well taken. Wow twenty hours on one fig. 20 hours x 22 players =440 hours. 440 hours = 19 days. You are dedicated Sir. I dont know if I want to spend that much time but we will see. What type of figure is that on the left? |

Dude...
...the work is absolutely fantastic but it's going to take you forever to paint a complete team let alone two.

It's a common miggle fab5 figure, of my 49ers "demo" team.

To be more realistic, I certainly will not custome every figure of my "pro" team, just focusing on several positions. Example, the next fig full customized (sculpting/modifying the face, body, etc...) I'll do will be Vernon Davis. The other linemen will be "just" hand painted I think. And I will only make the "dark jersey" version of the team. The goal is to achieve the Niners 2009-2010 before the end of 2010 |

Just had to chime in
Dimitri
Being here in the desert, I don't have much time to message on the computer. But I had to chime in. Your work is fabulous Its a beautiful thing when you have someone new join the hobby. Even more so when you have someone share their talents, and your based in France Perhaps my command will allow me to take leave so I can get back to Germany and visit you Again Dimitri, fabulous job Now make some Eagles |

I'm afraid you 'll have to accustom with Niners for a loooong time I don't know, perhaps I'll make another team figure for other people on side of my personal projects, I can't be sure. |

Becoming lazy...
Hi,
This morning, I started to work on jersey numbers. And I was thinking about what you said, the time amount to complete the team, etc...so I tried to find an easy way to speed up the work without touching to the quality of the fig, and keeping the overall aspect. Hooper gave me some "peel and stick" Miggle stickers. Advantages: it was directly available for me and if you don't have it, it 's really cheap to buy. (pic2) Other advantage (wich can be an issue, depending the aspect you want to give the fig) the numbers are not too sharp drawed, so I thought it could be easily integrated in the hand painted style of the miniature. But of course, I didn't want that the sticker can be identified, the goal was to integrate it so anyone can notice that was a sticker. The technic is simple : you just have to cut with a sharp blade the number. Just cut on the outside lines of the numbers. Then, stick it on the fig, BUT NOT IN ONE MOVE ! Start to stick an edge, then apply it with a little soft tool (a piece of blasa, for example) so the sticker will marry correctly the figure shape. After that, if you 've got issues on the sticker (folds for example), try to flatten it with the soft tool. If folds stills here, just cut it with sharp blade, and fill the gap with matching color. Then, if any need, correct the defects on the outside lines of the sticker with a little amount of paint (color of the jersey). Finally apply a coat of mat varnish on it so you'll do not see the edges of the sticker after. You can use "medium mat" or figure acrylic mat varnish for that operation (same product, it 's only the thickness how differs, as always between artistic and miniature painting products). (pic3) Here 's the result before I made the varnish coat (I need to fix some little defects before). As you can see, you can't really identify the sticker. (pic1) next steps soon ! Dimitri |

Dimitri, you should try water slide decals. That is what everyone over here uses. You put them on, then put a soultion called Solvaset on. It sort of desolves the decal so that all that you see is the print. No edges to have to paint over. They look like the numbers were printed straght onto the figure.
Of course, no painter worth his brush would be caught dead using the things. Decals are the devls tools.
