JUST MY TAKE ON THE SITUATION.
The perception of what we do needs to be changed by we, the mfca members that fuel this entity. WE MUST BEGIN TO CONSIDER WHAT WE DO A SPORT. When an outsider hears or sees hobby, they may take a i'll look into later attitude. When a person hears or sees sport, they may act alot sooner in getting ivolved. This is due to men having that competative spirit in many things. The art of battle in the sports world. There are many organized basketball leagues throughout the country that do quite well.
Therefore a standard rule administered by the MFCA must be in place to have structure.Just because a paticular ruleset is played in one region, that does not mean everyone in that region likes that ruleset and may be looking for something else. WE NEED TO SPEAK TWO LANGUAGES. All coaches should be fluent in the ruleset they like and a STANDARD RULESET admistered by the association the are a part of. This will allow yourself flexibility all over the world. two big tourneys i have seen come to mind. 1)my first and their second seawall brawl 2)the miggle in baltimore. They both were jammed packed wall to wall. I WAS THERE LIVE IN THE FLESH. many coaches from different regions and rulesets showed up to play. Who's rules did everyone have to learn, miggles and the seawall brawl's or the ruleset they play with from there region. YOU MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO ADAPT. We will never see eye to eye on regional rulesets and the fall back should be a standard that all mfca members will have to learn . It's like being in school and learning a second language. spanish or french. If a coach from a different region ventures out to a paticular region where the rules played their are not familar to him. he can say lets play a game using the mfca ruleset. This is ofcourse, all took the time to learn them. I personally feel. ! rule learned by all is a sign of unity. NO ONE IS ASKING YOU TO FORGET HOW YOU PLAY TODAY. Just add a course in spanish or french to your credit. I KNOW THIS IS A DIFFERENT ISSUE FROM WHAT WATTS IS PROPOSING. KEYS PLEASE. MANTARAYDRE

I think that you guys are doing...
a great job! I've worked on panels and have attended many board meetings with my company over the years and the one constant is that everyone in the room does not agree. However, everyone does not have to agree.
I'm in full support of a National set of rules and a national tournament with a national champion. This will not eliminate or take away from the local leagues and tournaments that will continue to go on. However, as wolf stated it will tremendously help with sponsorship and bringing more recognition to the hobby as a whole. Don't you know that there is a national set of rules that have been established for the video game "Madden" that is played unlike how you play it at home? This does not mean that you cant continue to play at home the way that you have always loved and enjoyed. However, it does state that if you want to play on a national level then there are a specific set of rules that you would have to play by. Since these rules have been established Madden has been able to create "Madden Nation" and have increased the enrollement of people playing the game by more than 8x's. This has increased the sales of game consoles and madden video games tremendously. So many sponsors have jumped on board with "Madden Nation". If you take a look at the "Madden Nation" bus you can see all of the sponsors tagged all over it...NFL, EA Sports, ESPN, Sony, etc. Imagine if this were possible for our hobby. All of the vendors including ff.com, george diamond, miggle, bruce watts, roller taco and the rest of you who are custom painters, decal, board and figures makers will reap the benefits of hundreds and maybe thousands of new members who will be looking to purhase items to get going. The more rewarding experience would be that leagues would spring up all over the place. I don't have any interest in playing at this point in time that's why many of you have not seen me on the board lately, besides the fact that I have not renewed my membership. However, I have received several calls regarding this and I wanted to respond. I would say to continue your efforts in moving this great hobby forward. The truth of the matter is that it will die off if we don't. We don't have as many kids involved as we use to. The next generation is into high tech gadgets. Heck they have laptops the size of cell phones that allow you to do everything. We are in the age of twitter, facebook, myspace and ipad's. It is very difficult to compete especially if you're not popular. We must do everything possible to make our brand popular. We are the skinny kid in elementary school with braces and glasses on that no girl wants to date at first. However, once in highschool after hitting the weights for three summers and going to football camp we return to school looking good, with braces off and new eye contacts and they all are looking at us differently. We must do something to change our image. No sponser wants to date us right now. God bless you all...I pray that we can learn to come together!

good simple ruleset
I vote for using the Miggle ruleset. Here are my reasons:
1. It is simple: no sticks, dice, box, dividers, etc. This makes it easier to play the games and is more standard than all other rulesets in this regard. 2. It has been played before by just about all the coaches out there. There is less learning curve if we all get together and play. 3. There would be no advantages to a group or area of coaches. Miggle rules are really not played by any one area of the country so no one has an advantage. 4. It is fun. I think a lot of coaches enjoy the simplicity of the game. 5. We don't have to form a committee to adopt new rules! For me personally, I enjoy all the rulesets out there. I have played most of them and I love parts of all of them. Lets do this simple thing and move forward!!! beenutt

Coaches, this is what I think, I think before we set rules we must first build a house. To build a house we must first build a foundation. Our foundation should consist of guys that have experience in running a tournment. Guys, I'm not trying to leave out anyone I'm just calling the names that I know that have put on a tournment time and time again, The likes of Jim Davis and his crew (The Great Lakes), The Open run, The Dixie League B- Nut, The Texas Shoot Out Reggie, The Bama Blast myself David Nickles, The Carolina Tournment with Butch and Joel Prichett and etc.... Let's get all these great commissioners together in one room and let us put our head together and build a foundation for the love of football and not ourselves. These guys that put on these tournment knows that it takes a lot, The Beltsville tournment and the Canton tournment, we have a lot of great minds. If we could just put ourselves out for one moment we could build a house and the rules will come . So fellas, together, we could build anything and withstand any kind of weather. I think if we get guys in every region like Bruce mention and let's set up a date and invite everyone. Lets make it be in a central location to where everyone can show up and bring these minds together. I have no doubt that we can build a house where rules will automatically come and we will do it for the love of the game and for all coaches who really love playing the Electric Football. Guys, my hat is off to all you guys who put on tournments all around this country because I know the ups and downs and the headaches that you guys have. I know that yall are just like me because I too do it for the love of the game.

Tournament Organizers
Thanks David for your input. I have been thinking about this very thing for awhile (getting all the tournamnet and/or league organizers together in one place at the same time). I will offer to host such a meeting here in NASHVILLE. Nashville is fairly central to most areas of the country and a great place to bring the family for a weekend getaway if anybody wanted to do that as well.
Anybody else willing to host or suggest a better central location?

"Thats what im talkin bout"
I'll continue to contact "HEADS OF STATE", anyone operating a "TOURNY" & is interested in making there city or league part of the proposed "PRO LEAGUE" give me a call 330-452-4454. Ive got a solid plan for putting this thing together, where no one person or organization has the final word on anything, this will be a group effort, as well it should be. as ive said before this project will not bare my name in any way shape or form! ultimately success depends on u guys!

There is no "I" team
I spoke with Bruce and I’m on board to make this happen. The Beltsville area has major experience in running Tournaments. The one thing I would like to ask is that Ray Farnara sets on this panel of minds. Has a lot to bring to the table with kids Tourneys’. Because ultimately it should be the goal to past this great hobby of ours on to the next generations.
