great stuff once again
While I have all the rule books from 67 on, some in mint condition, this idea of yours to go online with it is fabulous. I'm at the office so now there is going to be downtime at work while I stare at these fabulous pics for several more hours! LOL!
I've been looking at these pics since I was 8 years old (1967), and I do remember when they first came out. Still, it never gets old to see these. However, has ANYONE ever collected any teams that were painted up as snappy as these were for the photo shoot? Maybe these "photo boys" were the only ones ever painted this good! LOL! Thanks again for a great post. |

Board Help
Glenn and Charles: I would like to do a multi-part series for “The Tweak” magazine on the history and chronological order in which the old Tudor Boards were released. You two hold the key, in terms of years in which the standard boards were manufactured and released, would you like to help me out. I’m thinking 3-5 year time frames to break up the segments, noting the major innovations or designs that influenced each new board or era of board. My email address is rfanara@verizon.net; please contact me directly if interested. I can’t do this article without some help in terms of reference material; the old rule books supply most of what I need. You will not need to send me the rule books just scanned images with dates; I can take it from there. If you would like to contribute to the article, that can be arranged as well, personal histories associated with certain board types help make the research more enjoyable to read. Glenn, I think we learned your story WRT to the 510 model years ago, it’s worth repeating. Thanks, Ray F.

great stuff.
I still have dreams where I walk in a store and they have all of the original Haiti teams for .50 per team ! I know I am 41 years old and still dream about electric football. Yes Haiti teams were .50 a team in the local hobby store when I was a kid. The teams were behind the counter and on the wall , the local hobby store guys knew me and would let me just look at the teams for hours until I picked out 1 team that I was going to buy , that was all that I could afford |

Old boards
When we talk about the history of the game, these guys are the first ones I call. Its an important part of the game that we all forget about.
Feel free to take any photos off of my blog as well. I have been trying to compile photos of old boards. Really look forward to seeing the article.

sure
I'll help out. I've got a model 600 on the way to me I just won on E-Bay. With that, I think I will have at least one of every model Tudor made from 1959 to the present! Could be wrong, but I'll double check my board collection this weekend.....no wait, I'm wrong already! LOL!
I STILL DO NOT HAVE THAT COLLEGE edition that came out! I won one but something happened and I never got it, or they delisted it after it was won, or something weird and bizzare happened. I don't remember. I do know I was close to having that sucker, but no!!!!!!!! That's the only one I don't have to my knowledge right now. ..... |

guys , the tudor booklets will be a great help in identifying the boards, but remember, more than half of their sales were based on geography, meaning, if you got a fancy board(anything larger than a 500) AND it wasnt a superbowl set, it was most likely a local to your area Team in it. we here in S.E. Tx, usually had cowboys/oilers/saints in ours.
that is also why some of the populer sets were ..... Browns/Bengals Giants/Jets Rams/49ers etc etc etc. |

i have a board.........
with helmets on the side, older model. but what i JUST noticed today was, one of the helmets is gold and says "CB" on the side. is that a really old Chicago Bears helmet? this same board also has the saints with a black helmet.

Tudor 613
What you describe is the classic midsize board, circa 1967; it originally came with the Bears in white and Cardinals in dark. Rumor has it that the NFL always wanted a logo or distinguishing feature on the classic orange Browns helmet, what shows up on the side of the 613 is light orange helmet with the initials “CB” for Cleveland Browns. It also shows up on the 620 box lid (scoreboard backdrop). The Browns never complied. Your early model 613 shows a black Saints helmet because when that board went to press in 1967, the exact logo and color scheme were not decided. I guess Tudor knew the colors and the logo but guessed wrong on the logo and background colors. The Saints began play in the NFL that fall. That board is well constructed and the gauge on the metal used to construct the field is perfect for its size and width because these boards hardly ever have crowns or a flimsy feel. I believe that board may have been sold exclusively through Sears and Roebuck of Chi. IL., hence the Bears and Cardinals in the set. That same board design became the basis for the 615 NFL board in the early 70’s and the later 1970’s Superbowl games after they downsized from the traditional 620 size. Ray F.
