SOLITAIRE PLAY CALLING 101

In your offensive sets, let the offensive coordinator (the dice) call the play in real time game situations.
TAKE A 12 SIDED DIE WHICH WILL CALL CALL PLAYS FROM 1-12

GET A CHART OR PAPER AND CREATE COLUMNS LIKE THIS

***VERTICAL COLUMNS.

1)COLUMN 1) FIRST AND TEN (ANY RUN OR PASS IN THIS COLUMN, 50/50)

2)COLUMN 2 ) SECOND AND LONG ( MORE PASS PLAYS THEN RUN PLAYS IN THIS COLUMN)

3(COLUMN 3)SECOND AND SHORT, 2 YARDS OR LESS ( 98 % RUN PLAYS IN THIS COLUMN)

4)(COLUMN 4)THIRD AND LONG, 5 YARDS OR MORE ( 98% PASS PLAYS IN THIS COLUMN)

5)(COLUMN 5)THIRD AND SHORT, 2 YARDS OR LESS ( 75% RUN 25% PASS IN THIS COLUMN)

6)(COLUMN 6)4TH AND 1 OR INCHES ( 98% RUN 2 %PASS IN THIS COLUMN).

***now that you have these empty columns in front of you, WHAT 12 PLAYS WOULD YOU WRITE IN EACH COLUMN DEPENDING ON THE GAME SITUATION. Examp, the last column 6 should have at least 10 plays running the ball inside. 1 run outside and 1 pass play of your choice. (write the plays you want and like.)

The first column should have 6 run plays and 6 pass plays. !st and 10 is always the free for all.

Watch a football game and see what they do on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down depending on the game situation. As you roll the dice for the call, look at the down and distance game situation and pick the play from that column.
Your play calling will be as good as the columns you created. be sure to include

1) dives, traps, counters,draws ad all run you can think of.

2)If passing, think of all the pass plays that you can use.

if you set your columns up correctly, your game will run smoothly like an NFL or college game.

***If you cant think of plays, get them from playbacks, madden, where ever a play is diagramed .

if a team is facing 4th and inches, most will try to move the pile on a run play. It is rare a qb will drop back and pass.

just think for yourself, What would i do if it were 3rd and short ? Write what you think and how you feel in that column, 12 times.

if the number 5 came up on the dice, 5 could be something different in all of the columns. happy coaching.
