Default CBSMF----College Option Rule

I will address this to Mike Robertson as he has a knack for stating things in an understandable manner.

I would also love to hear opinions on this rule from those that played in Eric & Dave's Open Run College Tourney.

Mike,
Describe the sequence of events from the snap to tackle.

Is the scramble rule (and any rule for that matter) different than in Shootout rules? Are the CBSMF rules posted somewhere?

Default Option Rule...

Geno, Mozeek and others...

Actually you do not have to start out on an immoble base. That's the beauty of this style of play. The trickeration involved is fantastic. Make them think you're passing when you're going to run and make them think you're running when your going to pass.

Here is the rule on the option play...

You are allowed a full house backfield, however on full house back fields only your QB may not assist in the blocking schemes and must be turned away from the play as if he is handing the ball off. On all other formations the QB may assist in blocking.

On the option play this is the only multi-stop play allowed. You do not have to reveal that you are running the option until you're ready to pitch or pass the ball. Once the set is turned on and your players are running to the option side, you will get one stop. The pass clock starts immediately once the board is stopped. You will then have to either pass the ball before the pass clock expires or say "option" so the pass clock stops. You do not have to say if you're going to pitch it or keep it at this stage. The defense immediately will adjust and angle towards either the QB or the RB. Once the defense make his adjustments the offense will then have to make a decision to pitch it or keep it. Once that decision is made, the play resumes. After 10 yards the defense gets to adjust again. FYI...After your first stop you also have the option to pass the ball. You lose this option once you declare "option" and the pass clocks stops.

I hope this has cleared it up for you!

Default If I knew how to use you tube...

I'd post up a play but I don't. I suck at this! Perhaps Reg and I can record the option play and post it sometime in the very near future.

Default Q:

So do you have the use the TTQ to "pitch" the ball to the option RB or just assume he has it...? Barry

Default Sometimes...

If there is more than a base length of seperation then yes you would have to use the TTQB. Otherwise, the pitch is a clean pitch. There is one exception however. If there is a defender between the pitch man and the QB, the QB has to run it and the defense gets to adjust like normal and there is no option to pass the ball.
