TODAY IN THE NJLMFL- WHERE “LEGENDS” LIVE

NFC CONFERENCE QUARTER-FINALS-SUPER BOWL 50

OMAHA WRANGLERS AT ST. LOUIS WOLFPACK

RECAP- It was a wild game in St. Louis today as the NFC North Champs St. louis Wolfpack hung on to beat the wildcard Omaha Wranglers 28-27 in a game filled with big plays. This first half was fairly calm. In the 1st QTR STL RB Marion Barber less the dreds had a 47 yard run to the Omaha 15. Two plays later Barber scored on a 5 yd run and a 7-0 Wolfpack lead. Barber scored again in the 2nd QTR on a 5 yd pass from STL QB Archie Manning and a 14-0 lead. Omaha drove late in the second and were able to put up a Mason Crosby 25 yd FG and it was 14-3 at the half.

The fireworks began in the second half. Omaha got the kick and on their second play RB Matt Forte broke off a 57 yd TD run and it was all of a sudden 14-10 Wolfpack. On the ensuing kickoff STL KR Devon Bess returned the kick 86 yards and the Wolfpack once again led by 11 with a 21-10 lead. St. Louis RB Tim Hightower fumbled late in the 3rd QTR and Omaha recovered on their own 40. On the very next play Wrangler QB Colt McCoy went deep and hit Troy Brown for a 60 yd TD and Omaha was back in it at 21-17 after 3 QTRs. Early in the 4th Manning was intercepted by Chris Hovan on a batted ball and Omaha had it on the St. Louis 34. They could not punch in a TD and they settled for another Crosby FG from 24 yds out to make it 21-20. After the kick Tim Hightower redeemed his earlier fumble with a brilliant 78 yd run for a TD to give St. Louis a 28-20 lead with 10:56 left. Omaha then got another big play when Troy Brown took the kickoff from the goal line and sped 75 yds down the sideline before stepping out of bounds at the STL 25. A few plays later Lendale White crashed into the endzone from 5 yards to make it a 28-26 game. Omaha went for the 2 point conversion and got it when Matt Forte ran it in but Omaha was flagged for holding to nullify the points. Omaha decided to kick the extra point from 29 yds out and made it leaving them 1 point behind at 28-27 with 7:41 left in the game. St. louis got the ball at their own 42 and were able to convert 3 straight first downs as Omaha had to use all of their timeouts and get inside the 2 minute warning. St. Louis ended up with a 4th and 5 at the Omaha 17 and instead of going for a short FG to make it 31-27 they decided to go for it. Barber was stopped short and Omaha took over at their own 15 with :38 left and no timeouts. On first down McCoy dropped back and found Troy Brown down the right sideline and hit him out to the Omaha 42 and it looked like time may run out but the St. Louis DB was flagged for a horsecollar tackle and the 15 yard penalty took the ball all the way to the Wolfpack 43 with just 16 seconds left. McCoy then misfired incomplete and the clock was down to :05. It was hail mary time. With the snap St. Louis smothered all of the Omaha receivers leaving only Forte oen for a short pass and when McCoy’s pass fell incomplete St. Louis had the 28-27 victory. The win sends the Wolfpack to the Divisional Round but they must wait to see where they will play next.
