Default WOW!!!

That's incredible, but is it really worth $4000.00???? Maybe if all figures were complete (no injuries). But still very tempting.

Default REALLY!

That dude is crazy. What makes it really ridiculous is the fact that it comes with no bases.

im sure you can look at it a few ways. some common teams are worth ony 30-45 bux each, But, some harder ones to get have gone for between 350 and 450 bux in the past. it breaks down to right under 100 bux a team, which is a tad high, BUT, you get them all at once, which makes it pretty appetising. in the past, ive seen the saints/steelers/redskins and a few others reach into the 400 dollar range, and he has all of them. its still neat , but , i aint got that kinda cash, and probably, unless i was very well off, wouldnt do it. ...but, if i had the extra cash, i might pull the trigger.

As a collector I would not consider buying those teams.

Ken,

Why would you not consider buying them?

Post Well!

When I began collecting I learned the difference between what brings the authenticity to antique teams.

My collection was amassed "in bag", and there are many instances, as a collector, where it is very important, at least to me, that all the players or teams came from the same lot.

When I dealt big man teams I immediately let the buyers know if there was a hog leg.

I personally consider a authentic big man collection as each individual team coming from the same bag.

There are some that claim that they have a collection but very few have a true collection. The Browns for instance have that coffee color but I sold some Browns, I believe to Mark Kistner, that would clearly show the difference between authentic, as opposed to pieced together.

I am not knocking the collections as there are clearly 4 teams that came from the same lot. Just because they used toothpicks to paint them does not mean that you can't see the difference.

It's like getting one painted by Guttman, One Stacey, One Chucl Lawrence, etc. etc.

Just my thoughts. Take a closer look now and tell me what you see.

Default Thanks Ken,

I think I see what you are talking about. I have emailed the seller asking for history of the item and have reviewed his profile and feedback From what he told me could very well be pieced together teams. He has bought various collections and resold as separate teams.

I understand what you are talking about regarding true antiques. I think it would be cool to own a complete game set actually from the 1940's, but I don't think it would be worth mutiple thousands of dollars. In my opinion, that current auction should range between $350 to $400 tops.

If an electric football auction is to go for thousands of dollars, much more should be in the auction such as antique boards, bases, and other components.
