Default HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE

HOW DO GUYS FEEL ABOUT HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE? MEANING PLAYING ON YOUR FIELD THAT YOU BROUGHT WITH YOU.......

I KNOW RULES OF THUMB IN MOST LEAGUES ARE THAT BOTH COACHES MUST AGREE ON BOARD SPEED ......BUT WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE BOARD SPEED HAS AN IMPACT ON THE HOME TEAM?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THIS IS HIS (VISITING COACH) TACTIC TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE OR TO BE COMPETITIVE........

WHEN DOES HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE NOT BECOME HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE?

For me:

Homefield advantage is all on the mind. Any good running board is good to play on. I've seen coaches get crushed on their own boards set the way they prefer.

Perhaps you can use a dark room timer and make it a requirement for both coaches fastest man to run a minimum of x number of yrds within a certain a amount of time before the board is deemed playable. Anything over that has to be agreed upon by both coaches.

Default I think .....

In my league home field advantage is HUGH! We have so many tweakers who tweak on their home field that on their boards they are better. On the road they aren't as good. Example: Coach A has a vynal board and tweaks on that board. Coach B has metal. Coach A has a better grip then coach B. A lot of times Coach B grips too much as you switch from vynal to metal. My experience the board or board type that you tweak on gives you your best performance. Now if your players are scrubs on your board 9 times out of 10 they will be scrubs on someone elses board.

Whatever field I am playing on I want the speed to be set as fast as possible. If a (tweaked)player or two fall down every other play or so then back it off a touch and thats PERFECT.
Nothing more boring than a slow board. This is as true for a spectator observing the game as it is coaching the game. TURN IT UP & GET IT ON!

Default 2nd Round

A) Jamel, you do make a good point on the HF advantage thingy. I failed to consider board types I rarely play on. If you are used to playing on metal then all of a sudden, you have a game on fiber or particle (?), get ready for a rude awakening. But knowing the possiblity of playing on such different boards, you have the opportunity to prepare in advance.

B) Either suck-it-up and deal, or implement some sort of board speed standard for the league. See my previous reply.

C) Perhaps this person's ethics should be questioned or just let it go, let it ride and accept it.

D) When your opponent is just better, luckier, or more prepared than you.

Post my two cents

If you are garbage, it doesnt matter what type of board you play on. The different types of board make the game more realistic. sorta like playing on grass and turf, indoors (dome) and outside (open air), night (artificial light) and day (natural). keeps the game exciting.

From what I see in my brief career there is going to be a definitive home field advantage as it "appears" to me players will run a bit different depending on who's board, how fast it's set and hot/dead spots. I think knowing your board and getting to practice it on is an advantage, however, just that, an advantage, not a deal breaker.

I see it as being realistic as it is generally a bit more difficult to win on the road and I look forward to getting my own field in the near future.

Since I have only played 2 pre-season games and 1 scrimmage, I'll have a better idea of the impact as time goes by.

Right now, just havin a ball

Default BOARD SPEED

WAS THE INITIAL QUESTION....ALSO IN QUESTION IS WHETHER A COACH SHOULD HAVE TO ADJUST BOARD SPEED AND LOSE HIS HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE? IF PLAYERS ON BOTH TEAMS FALL DURING THE COURSE OF A PLAY ....WHY SOULD A COACH HAVE TO ADJUST HIS BOARD SPEED LOSING HIS "HOMEFIELD" ADVANTAGE?

JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE IDEA OF ONE SUPPOSEDLY HAVING HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE AND THEN ANOTHER COACH USING AGAINST HIM AS AN ADVANTAGE TO WIN........

he is talking about that and more.........

Home field advantage should be just that ...... however, it does not mean that in the MF world because some leagues/coaches that would gain the advantage is subjected to making the playing condition suited to both parties.

Now to a lesser degree, you should still have some small advantages to your field that the opponent will only "discover" after running on the field. You should know where the sweet spots are on the field so that when you are in those areas, you know what to do to gain that "advantage" you sought after.

Board speed does play a roll, but if everyone stops trying to control all the conditions of game play maybe home field advantage may return........
