Board Q & A: In phase 2 any unforeseen crisis ahead?

the pics are where I am at. Metal shop only had 22 gauge. I plan to use 2 660 motors...any suggestions? I need to get rivets out of 660 or add 2 so that the motor speed screw will screw in...any suggestions? Best way to mount motors? Will these motors provide enough vibration on 22 gauge metal? I still have the original motor. Who or where can I get a simple sticky coated field to cover the metal...simple.. How should I mount the metal field? Should I add a support across the middle of field? ANY SUGGESTIONS humbly asking for some feedback from the family?

Generally, I will mount motors at the 50 yd line in the middle, directly underneath one of the "10s", or at the goal line. However, I see that the motors you are using require the speed control to poke out, periscope style. When I need to find a sweet spot, I have a test motor box that while the board is "up on blocks" I move it around underneath to find the sweet spots. You can find them by sprinkling salt or powder on the board and then turning it on. The powder will "dance" on the surface. When the board appears lively, mark your spot. Do this several times until you have a few spots that look good.

Next attach your test motor with some double sided foam tape in the spot with the most promise. Let it run with some players up top. If it looks good then you have a winner, if not move the motor to the next spot and keep on going.

Make sure to start with only one motor. Only add the other motor if it really needs it. Many times the extra motors create more problems than they solve.

Larue...... Makes a fat head material that does well on metal......My Raiders Cover that we played on is that material........I am not sure if Jimbo makes a sticky material type field cover but I think he makes a magnetic and a laminated cover that will also do well on metal. Just a suggestion..... you need to add more velcro around the ledge that the field sits on . From your pictures it appears as though you are missing some......

Also Megawattz seems to have mastered the mounting of tudor motors ( in my experiences with Wattz) so as to not offend anyone.......so you might want to reach out to him.......
Other than that Rollertaco has the best idea for determining sweet spots....Glad to see you taking a chance and saving some dough..........

I would recommend mounting ONE gotham motor at the 50 yard line, about 1-2 inches from the edge. I would mount the motor using a fast cure 2 part epoxy so that the chord came out at the 50. This baby will hum. I'd considered mounting Tudor style motors, but I didn't want to get into rivets etc. If the Tudor motors had very flat flanges (were the rivet goes) I suppose you could mount that to the metal surface using an epoxy as well. Please keep in mind I've never mounted the Tudor motors, I'm just thinking out loud and offering a thought on a way to do that without the rivets. Looks good.
