This is a superstar based league, where...
weight plays a big part in determining who are the stars and who are not. For 35 active players, they must weigh a combined weight of 155 grams. Now it does not matter which one I put the weight on. The only stipulation is that the weight limit is 155 grams.
So as you can imagine, an Alan Ameche, Lenny Moore, Bubba Smith, Big Daddy Lipscomb, and others would have significantly higher weights than others. The only problem is I have to manage these players play time because the league has game, weeks, and season ending injuries. In a game earlier in the season, Jerry Rice got injured for 6 games. I had guys emailing me and other guys questioning why I had Rice in the game at a certain time. I love the fact that guys are getting into this, that I can inspire excitement, because trust me FrankB, as the winter comes, some of the competitive coaches will need something to do - like play solitaire. And when I play, I am having a ball! Quarterbacks Johnny Unitas - 3.5 Bert Jones - 4.0 Running Backs Alan Ameche - 4.5 Lydell Mitchell - 4.0 Lenny Moore - 5.0 Wide Receivers Raymond Berry - 5.0 Roger Carr - 4.5 Marvin Harrison - 4.1 Reggie Wayne - 3.7 Tight Ends John Mackey - 5.0 Dallas Clark - 3.4 Offensive Linemen Kurt Vogel - 4.1 Al Spinney - 4.1 Jim Parker - 6.0 Ray Donaldson - 5.5 Bill Curry - 4.5 Ron Solt - 5.0 Chris Hinton - 5.5 Defensive Linemen Art Donovan - 5.0 Gino Marchetti - 5.0 Big Daddy Lipscomb - 5.5 Bubba Smith - 6.0 Roy Hinton - 4.2 Bill Ray Smith - 3.9 Linebackers Mike Curtis - 4.5 Duane Bickett - 3.7 Stan White - 3.4 Ted Hendricks - 5.1 Dwight Freeney - 4.5 Defensive Backs 20 Milt Davis - 4.0 80 Bill Nelsom - 3.4 Lenny Lyles - 3.6 Bob Sanders - 3.8 Bruce Laird - 4.0 Rick Volk - 4.0 Running Back 22 MERCURY MORRIS -4.7 39 LARRY CSONKA -5.0 21 JIM KIICK - 3.5 32 HUBERT GINN - 3.9 Wide Receivers 42 PAUL WARFIELD - 5.4 81 HOWARD TWILLEY - 3.7 86 MARLIN BRISCOE - 4.5 Tight Ends 88 JIM MANDICH - 4.5 80 MARV FLEMING - 3.4 Quarterbacks 15 EARL MORRALL - 4.1 12 BOB GRIESE - 4.2 Offensive Linemen 62 JIM LANGER - 4.6 67 BOB KUECHENBERG - 5.5 66 LARRY LITTLE -5.5 79 WAYNE MOORE -5.0 73 NORM EVANS -5.0 77 DOUG CRUSAN -4.1 60 AL JENKINS - 3.9 Defensive Linemen 83 VERN DEN HERDER - 5.6 75 MANNY FERNANDEZ - 5.7 84 BILL STANFILL - 5.6 72 BOB HEINZ - 4.0 65 MAULTY MOORE - 3.8 Linebackers 59 DOUG SWIFT - 4.5 85 NICK BUONICONTI - 5.0 57 MIKE KOLEN - 4.5 53 BOB MATHESON - 4.5 51 LARRY BALL - 3.4 56 Jessie Powell - 4.1 Secondary 45 CURTIS JOHNSON - 4.5 25 TIM FOLEY - 4.0 13 JAKE SCOTT - 3.9 40 DICK ANDERSON - 4.1 26 LLOYD MUMPHORD - 3.4 49 CHARLIE BABB 3.9 |

I like a lot that idea.
It's like in wargames : you have (for example) 1000 points to build your army. You can pick 5 big monsters for 200pts each, or a big gobs squad, 50figs for 20pts each. It allows the player to make a very personal approach in his squad building. It's also -I think- a good way to balance the game. If you're not a really good tweaker, you can build a very strong line...but you'll certainly have weakness on your back field. But you'll be able to defend and protect your QB, allowing you more options than having a weak team on a classic weight limit. Like in the real world. Even weak teams always stills have good elements. Concerning football, you can build a strong line including a TE dedicated to protection, or big FB, or fast light weight TE and monster linemen, one big nose tackle and DT to stop power runs, etc, etc... I think I'll try that weight system in my own rules soon (= when I'll fix my board ). Perhaps I'll experiment multiple weight limits (one for linemen, one for skills players, for example).
