What NFL team has the best all-time roster.

I have a Legends league and I have been doing alot of research to make up my all-time teams. Now I ask you. Who has the greatest all-time roster. I am partial to the Cowboys because I am a Cowboy fan but to be fair you must be objective. I feel the Cowboys are the best because they have:

2 Hall of Fame QB's- Staubach and Aikman
2 Hall of Fame running backs- Dorsett and Smith
The all time leading rusher- Emmitt Smith
Hall of Fame reciever- Michael Irvin
Fullback- Moose Johnston
Great recievers like - Pearson, Hill, Harper, Hayes
Tom Landry
Jimmy Johnson
Great offensive linemen- Wright, Newton, Williams
Great Defensive Players- Lilly, Howley, Jordan, Renfro, Waters, Harris, Ware, Martin, R. White, Too Tall, Haley, the list goes on.

There are strong arguments for these teams

49ers
Steelers
Raiders
Redskins
Giants
Dolphins

In the end I think Dallas has the best.

Dallas Cowboys, Mike--No one even close. Maybe Pittsburgh, is in the discussion, though.

Steelers over Cowboys. One... I'm a fan, two... they have 18 inductees to the Hall of Fame, Cowboys only 13. Sorry.

Two hall of fame QB - Bradshaw and Layne
Three hall of fame backs - Harris, Dudley and Johnson
Two hall of fame receivers - Stallworth and Swan
Two hall of fame cornerbacks - Blount and Woodson
Two hall of fame linebackers - Ham and Lambert
Hall of fame linemen on both sides of the ball...
Chuck Noll.... Bill Cowher...

Then add the current lineups/greats that could be candidates... Bettis, Palamolu, Ward... Rothlesburger (?) (if he stays out of jail and in the NFL) They've two Superbowl victories in the last 5 years. While Dallas could match Pittsburgh's talent of the past, they fall behind with the current crop. Pittsburgh could have one &%$& if a defense combining the steel curtain D-line from the 70's... the defensive backfield of today, and cherry picking the best linebackers from the teams history. Their Offensive options aren't too shabby either. If I'm not mistaken, they've had multiple receivers, with 1000+ yards the same season, multiple times.

Biased of course, but I'd pick Steelers. Their 70s teams are basically an all-time roster all by themselves.

But then you have Bettis, Ward, Woodson, Dawson, Lloyd, Polamalu ... the list goes on forever.

Second-choice for me would be the Raiders.

Packers in the Pro Football HOF

1963 Curly Lambeau Coach/Halfback 1919–49

1963 Cal Hubbard Offensive tackle 1929–33
In 1970, he was selected to the NFL's All-50 Year Team.
In 1994, he was selected to the NFL's All-Time Two-Way Team.
By 1958, Hubbard was the AL's umpire-in-chief. In 1976 he was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hubbard is the only person to be in both the Baseball and Football Hall of Fames.

1963 Don Hutson End 1935–45
Hutson led the league in receptions eight times, including five consecutive seasons (1936-37, 1939, 1941-45). He led the league in receiving yards seven times, including four consecutive seasons (1936, 1938-39, 1941-44). He led the league in touchdown receptions nine times, including five consecutive seasons (1935-38, 1940-44). All of those achievements remain NFL records.

1963 John McNally Halfback 1929–33

1964 Clarke Hinkle Fullback 1932–41
In 1938, Hinkle led the league in scoring with 58 points (7 TDs, 3 FGs, 7 PATs).In 1940 and '41, Hinkle led the NFL in field goals made, hitting 9-of-14 and 6-of-14, respectively.
The NFL doesn't have defensive statistics for that period, but Hinkle was a fierce linebacker, gaining a reputation as one of the few players powerful enough to bring down Chicago Bears great Bronko Nagurski.
Hinkle was named to the NFL's All-Time Two-Way Team in 1994.

1964 Mike Michalske Guard 1929–35
Michalske also played on the defensive line and was dubbed "Iron Mike" because despite playing 60 minutes a game, he missed only nine of 104 games during his Packers tenure, five of them in his final season.

1966 Arnie Herber Quarterback 1930–40
In 1932, the Packers' title streak ended, but Herber earned NFL All-Pro recognition while leading the league in passing yards (639) and touchdowns (9). He led the league again in 1934 (799 yards, 8 TDs).
In 1935, the arrival of Don Hutson in Green Bay created the first great quarterback-receiver combination in NFL history.

1971 Vince Lombardi Coach 1959–67

1974 Tony Canadeo Halfback 1941–44
In 1949, Canadeo ran for 1,052 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry to become the third NFL player and first Packers player to reach the 1,000-yard mark.

1976 Jim Taylor Fullback 1958–66
For his Packers career, Taylor had 26 100-yard rushing games and 8,207 rushing yards. Not until Green would a Packers player approach either number.
Taylor earned MVP honors in 1961 and was a consensus All-Pro. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl, an honor he received each season from 1960-64.

Great argument. This is what I'm looking for. I may have to agree with you on todays players. Only Ware and Witten to mention as todays stars. Bobby Layne was a reach going back that far and most of his great stats were with another team but a fact nonetheless. I will list my all-time Cowboy lineup. All who disagree put up your teams best 22 to compare. Here we go.

Wow. Don Hutson was one of the greatest recievers of all-time and very underrated when it comes to the all-time lists. I knew I'd get a strong argument from the Steeler fans. Until the 70's the Steelers were terrible so think about all the great players that have played for them in the last 40 years. That is impressive. The Cowboys came into the NFL in 1960 so all of their stars are from the last 50 years. Let's not forget the great players from the AFL as well. I am waiting to hear from the Raiders, Colts, Rams, Vikings, Dolphins, and Giants fans.

The greatest thing about all of these legendary teams and players is that they can still play in Miniature Football Leagues today.

I think we will all agree on this.
