Default I miss this thread

I use to enjoy reading the post in this thread. Now it's rarely used.

Don,

What do you want to discuss? How about another Universal Rule set discussion? That always seems to bring out some good conversation. Anyone???

Actually, it's the strategy discussions I miss. I learned a lot from various coaches during my first year or so in this thread. K-lo use to put up pics of various game situations and formations, Others put up diagrams of plays they used, we discussed special teams, defensive goal line stands, etc.

Now that we have a new crop of coaches I just think it would be great to resurrect those discussions again.

It was also a lot of fun Joe. Kenny Allen, Michigan Joe, Jimbo (where is he?), and several others use to put up great post about strategy.

The good ole' days.

Default OK here's one

In the Miggle tournament round robin games, you only have 4 plays to either score or gain the most yards. You win the coin toss, do you take the ball first or go on defense first.

My thoughts are to always go on defense first. That way I know what I have to do when I get the ball. If my opponent scores then I know that I have to probably pass to try to score. If my opponent does not score and only gains X amont of yards then I can try a combination of run and pass plays to gain the most yards.

Default Well the flipside of that is

Take the ball.....put the pressure on them. Your objective should be to score anyways, so that's not going to change.

Here's a question, does minus yds beat zero yds?

Default yardage

My understanding of the yardage was that if the first coach got zero or minus yards all the second coach had to do was gain at least 1 yard to win the game.

Yes the objective should be to score. But a victory for me is just gaining any yardage at all.
