This is totally outside of established tournaments, no changes to what there doing what so ever, Im proposing using those dates as a way to further a common goal, games can be played, under a common ruleset that has nothing to do with the tourney itself. The biggest obstacle after rules of course is travel. When u have the same coaches traveling from city to city, why not, boosting the home Tourneys numbers, also giving each a real stake for supporting each others events.

This is where CPC can be extended in my opinion.

Let me place extreme emphasis that this is a thought, not a commitment.

We could probably generate a CPC form for coaches that travel to tournaments that are not in their ruleset. Kinda like MFCAL and rewarding coaches two-fold by both having a nice seeding for winning the tourney or working toward the CPC by playing outside your ruleset. Something simple like

1. Your ruleset
2. Tourney Ruleset
3. Games won
4. Games lost
5. Both coaches signature (Mandatory)

Maybe some other variables but since I am on my cell phone right now I am limited as to what I can research.

Just my thoughts.

So, basically, 20 guys come to Baltimore for a tournament.

The tournament is played on whatever remains of the BMEFA rules, just for example's sake.

Are you suggesting a secondary tournament - let's say, similar to the traditional Green Room Rumble - where MFCA rules can be used?

If I'm understanding you right, then this seems fine by me. If nothing else, the 20 folks get a chance to get more games for their travel dollar, which is an important consideration for our sport, too.

Nothing personal MW, just trying to comprehend.

:D clear it up....

My post was not implying that all leagues and tourneys have to change to the new rule set.

What i was intending was this....IMAGINE for a sec and follow along :D

You fly from Texas to New york for the BAM tourney....for whatever reason you are put out in the first or second round.....now what......

Well if we have a standardized rule set going for the MFCA World League..... instaed of now wasting your time WATCHING everyone else play.. you can grab another coach....you will already know the rules to play by... and get in some games to earn points toward your standings for the WORLD FINAL MFCA TOURNEY ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ I know when i went to canton to play the CBSMF tourney... it cost me about $280.00 PER GAME as i only got to play 2 games the whole weekend. I really wish i could have started playing towards next years ranking as it would have made the trip alot more cost effective.

so i know how much it means to get you "bang for the buck" as it were.

that is the way we CAN go....we just gotta commit to it, and do it to it !!!

Not neccessarily another tourny but, similar to the Green Room Rumble, playing league games. The host tournament will continue, as is. By doing this each tournament will become a host weekend for the participating members in the region. The Open Run will have its champion, under its rules, but behind the scenes games are being played by Host & Travel coaches, that have real standings & implications here on the East Coast. This is nothing new, whats new is using already established dates, to further a central goal, as the Hobby cant support, anything else, other than what is already established.

I haven't said too much on this subject because I really wanted to hear from the masses on this and see their opinions. I just want everyone to know that we are working on creating the "key" that Dre referred too so that it can soon "be turned".

There has been some great discussion here...it is an important step to take and as with all things, not everyone will be happy with the final product, but we will do the best we can to make it fair across the board allowing the majority of coaches to be involved without taking away from or distracting their local leagues.

The Board of Directors will discuss this very soon and lay out a plan. The MFCA members who entered this discussion already have narrowed it down to some real possibilities making our job easier. Please don't stop this discussion. All ideas are valid and will play into the final results.

Thanks and hopefully we will have something concrete by January 1.

One question, does the MFCA front the money for this league so that it is open to all as a way of promoting the hobby or is this only open to paid MFCA members? I hate to bring this question up, but there will need to be some money generated to pay for the costs of the league. I'm only asking the question to get peoples opinions, so keep level heads and be respectful with your answers.

Open or Members only?

My original proposal for a series of regional tournaments leading up to a national champonship tournament was to only allow paid MFCA members to participate.

While our mission is to promote and educate to the public the game and hobby as a whole, I think we have to keep MFCA sponsored or sanctioned competitions (whether league or tournament) open only to paid MFCA members. Otherwise, why join the MFCA??

Certainly we can invite media to the events to provide local and national coverage. But we are not selling a product like Miggle (or any other vendor) who uses these events to primarily promote and sell their products to help offset the cost of the events.

I think we should provide the opportunity for vendors to promote their products at MFCA events but at a nominal fee for space with a discount to MFCA Business Sponsors.

Just my opinions.

Moving forward

Thanks guys for tuning in, the main objective with this approach is to tie in the existing travel dates, Ive begun contacting the Organizers of the major Tournaments, for there support is critical. As far as membership, were going after the road warriors, those guys that know there going to travel, this isnt for everyone, nor do u want everyone, with each Tournament representing a Region. ie: Beltsville Bash representing the East, Bama Blast-South, Open Run-West, all teams involved from that Region will host there Home games during the weekend of there respective tournaments. Remember this is a travel league, for u guys hosting tournaments, a way to grow interest & participation. if u dont travel this isnt for u. This in no way should interfer with the operations of the host Tournament, there customs, rules, or events already in place, all were doing is organizing games outside of the main event of the said tournament.
