Dimitri
I play at a high level. I can't afford to have my highly tweaked bases altered. This will happen with this case because the foam is too tight and when you place a player they are in tight and it affects the prongs.
I tried for a year using the case but I can't have my safeties damaged and before each game I found myself frantically trying to fix players who ran perfectly before I put them in the case. You will have to modify the case which means it will hold less players. The players also need to be laid on their sides with plenty of room to avoid the brushes (Reeds) being damaged. You should never stand your men up while storing. The weight and the twisting and turning of the reeds during travel can cause permanent damage to that player you spent so much time tweaking. Unfortunately, the Miggle carrying case seems designed for players to "stand" while stored. Again, I am not trying to discourage you from buying. I am just letting you know that you will definitely have to modify the case to make it work for you.

I have a case with an old school iron man squad in it, I will try to take a pic or two tonight.

thank you both !
I'll see the pics tonight to make my decision, reading for your advises too. We'll see
I think on week end I'll go to hardware stores and stuff like that to see if I can find a better way to store my figs. @Sweetka : you're saying to not stand the figs for storage. so if I understand correctly, you place them on their side, in big cases (so the figs can move freely) ? thanks |

Yes!
If you restrict their movement and place then in tightly you will lose that player for weeks. It's just that simple. You would have to wait for the plastic to go back to it's current state.

ok, so...
perhaps we can take a miggle case, and modify (cut) two "slots" to make a bigger one ?
So the big 88figs case will carry only about 2 complete (22) players or a big team with special squads and options ? |

Miggle Case in Use
Here are some pics of two vintage iron man squads in one of Miggle's cases, it is the smaller of the two cases they sell.
To be honest, the way this comes it is not made for the professional level MF player at all. The few I have seen in use have had the foam heavily modified/cut up, it is a nice try, but the Games Workshop cases can't be beat in my opinion. You can also find in craft stores and in large fishing supply stores/catalogs, big flat plastic boxes with square cells in which a based up player or two will fit into quite nicely. Oh well, you be the judge on the Miggle case, you asked for it, here it is.

I have a two deep case and my players go in sideways....I cut the foam to allow me to slide them in without laying the prongs down or anything touching the prongs. Less guys fit that way, but the team is snug and secure! I have overflow....but that still works out.

Thank you Shabby J for the detailed pictures
For what I see, we certainly can do something re-cutting the inside foam the way I spoke before (make 1 "slot" with 2)... since if I choose Miggle case, I'll have to do some "mac gyvering", I have to go in town to see if I can find something cheap how can do the same job. thanks to all for your help Quote:
the problem is that the figures and bases will be "shaked" in, since there is no foam inside that type of boxes ? Last edited by the french guy : 11-20-2009 at 07:38 AM. |
