not trying to be PC but it depends...
Outlawing stacking seems dependant on overall rules and board size/speed...
I've personally expereienced two nice rule sets that I really like where stacking is relatively ineffective on a regular basis: Shoot out rules (simply due to 2 backfield adjustments to one defensive adjustment) and Divider (stack against what- tendencies?). I feel that these are both really great styles where its near impossible to have a "hat-on-hat" which is where stacking is probably the most effective. Also, the WIDER fields (>21.5+") change the game and I agree with coach Rip 100% that this is the biggest factor to the effectiveness of stacking. Also, I believe that the speed setting on the field is a major factor as slower play leads to more scrums whereas high board speed allow things to open up more and this can reduce the effectiveness of just trying to push your opponent back. Lastly, going from any touch to front of base (within first 10 yards) is probably the biggest change of rules your league can make to open up the running game, not outlawing stacking. My preference is a simple rule set which is not overly complicated or restricting which can slow down the game, but...either way (stacking or not)....its ALL GOOD! Regards, Joe
