More bloggers WANTED!
The pay still sucks, but the hours ain't bad! I'm still looking for dedicated people to keep blogging on the main site. My goal is to have enough guys that every day at least 1 new article is up on the site.
One thing that could be done is a "From the Forums" article. A short piece that highlights the best of that weeks posts cut and pasted to the main page. For the main page.....Other ideas?? Other suggestions?? Just be aware that any suggestion made automatically places you as the chairman of the committee! Just so you know, the main page receives 70 new visitors every day. 30 of these stick around for at least 4 minutes...that is huge in website terms! The other 40 were probably searching for something else or just passing by.

I can give articles ideas
TWEAKING and STRATEGY . It's a very difficult thing to find. Concerning tweaking, If I remember correctly, I just found 2 complete tweaking articles in old Tweak mag issues (one from Geno, one from Norbert, correct me if I'm wrong), and 2 videos from CoachRip on youtube for his products. Of course, you find some quick tips on the forum after a good old research, but nothing with steps by steps good pics or vids. SO the only way for the beginner is to buy/find a couple of pro tweaked bases for reference purpose, or try to guess the process watching pictures. It's a hard process, I'm pretty sure a lot of guys are lost and give up after ruining a dozen of bases without results. Tools, technic, etc...all are also valuable informations for the beginner. I'm pretty sure there is tons of old tudor or miggle games waiting in garages/basements/cellars under an inch of dust, with owners just waiting to find a easy way to use them. Don't think competition, think simple useability. A lot of bases are not really useable out of box/sprue, good articles on that should be a great thing. What bases are better for beginners, how easy tweak them, how to tweak bases from tudor or miggle gameboard sets (since a lot of newcomers buy complete game sets, or have old ones). I know there is a tweaking market, and a big competition spirit around that, but I believe a lot of guys/women (why not) just want to have a playable game for family or friends meetings. COncerning strategy, we're more lucky with the "X and O" K.Lomax articles on tweak. But things stills difficult to understand for the beginner or the casual player : what base on what position, etc, etc... Another cool thing should be a comparison chart for the main rulesets freely available on the MFCA website. What are the pro and cons, etc... my two cents. BTW, as usual I'm preparing other new modelling articles for tweak and mfca.org. Last edited by the french guy : 02-10-2010 at 11:02 AM. |

Simple things
Now that Dmitri is the chairperson...
How about an occasional article on simple things for our members such as uploading pictures and videos into your thread/post, what setup to use to show games online, etc. How about each league send in their choice for coach of the month (and why)? How about a feature on "homemade accessories" (or whatever we want to call it) of the week or month? Guys send in a picture of their accessory with a quick paragraph of how it was made. How about putting a picture of really sharp customs or painted figures on the home page? This should give the website a new look weekly. How about a weekly blog of updates on game play from leagues around the country? Let me put my thinking cap on for more ideas.

keep it simple for the blog
DOn, I completly agree with you. It's what I tried to say with my poor frenglish : making simple articles.
Fast to write for the author, but usefull for readers, depending of their particular skills : tweaking, playing, modelling, or as you said, "living" their online community membership. I'll make a "how to post pics" article right now, and publish it tonight or tommorow. |

You might be "committee chairperson cowards", but at least your doers!
