Default BEFL

When I left at about 4PM, it was Tom Johnson and Robert Chalmers squaring off and CorEy, Mr. National, PrettyBoy, Miss. MFCA, whatever you know him by best in a tough match VS Glenn Phoenix. I think Tom was in the process of defeating Robert on a last minute FG to win just before I left. I have nothing to offer for the final match.

It was great getting down to the club house for the first time in months and seeing one of the best EF groups in the country. My thanks to Ty Ware for buying a round (several rounds) of scotch for the room, boy that was good scotch to watch EF with.

Congrats to CorEy, I too look forward to hearing about this championship over and over and over………..

I hope to see most everyone in April at the BEFL Tournament and again in August.

Thanks,

Ray F/Manhattan Ray

Default Pendulum Shift

Yes, It's true the National One err.. FO.T.H. a.k.a. PretttBoy has achieved another remarkable feat.

After a long and ardous struggle through a long regular season in the very competitive BEFL - Corey bested a very fine Tom Johnson coached San Diego Charger team 28-21 using his Franny Boy inspired Houston Texan team.

I will leave it to Corey (as he is known for his almost Barnum and Bailey like showmanship and hyperbole) to describe the game and his emotions. As Dearall noted, this is the first time that a non-MD/DC coach has snatched the supremacy crown from this hotbed of EF.

My good friend Glenn Phoenix and I accompanied Corey on this journey. Corey reached the final by winning two decisive battles over William Chalmers and Glenn Phoenix to reach the final stanza. After losing his first two regular season games - he went back to the cauldron and his deep bag of tricks to roll out victories over the next nine opponents before prevailing in the big dance.

All I can say is wow... What a run. Corey is one of my long time friends and EF buddies in the hobby. I can tell you there is no one more deserving of this honor and achievement. Having come oh so close in many competitive leagues across the country he now has one for himself. You see (as a close observer) he gives more to the hobby than he takes - so I can attest to how significant this title means to him.

I know that the BEFL is not going to take this affront lightly as we approach the eve of another NEFL season where fully 10-11 MD/DC coaches will make their bi-weekly sojourn to Philly over the next few months. They have dominated in this travel league and across the EF landscape. So, you can expect to see some serious paint swapping and base rattling in the NEFL as Corey (and others) seek to wrestle control of the Philly mantle. I kind of wish he had not stirred up this hornets nest. Every see a fire-breathing dragon. This is what the NEFL will see and face thanks to the FOTH.

Congratulations to the BEFL for putting on a class league and venue. There are many fine coaches and outstanding people who have endured many challenges over the years to not only roll out a great rule set but to present a very competitive platform for the hobby. Kudos to all of their coaches.

If you are on the fence about attending the upcoming Beltsville Bash event - give it some serious consideration. Get there if you can. It is sure to be a great event with excellent competition. Moreover, you will rub elbows and share space with some great people.

Enough hyping the BEFL. I will leave it to Corey to walk us through the season and post-season run. Expect a blow-by-blow account and plenty of photos to go along with his posting.

Ed Scott
