Default Brawl Playing styles

I must admit that I had read posts by AB in the past and he always seemed to be able to get on the nerves of many including my own. I must say I was blown away when I met him for the first time. This guy did not participate in the Brawl at all but took the time everyday to show anyone who was interested about his style of play. He even walked us through it hands on style. I really appreciated him not pushing his style on me nor downing the current way I was playing elf. When you meet the guy in person you see his passion and love for the game and the hobby. You walk away thinking – this can’t be the same guy that writes those emails. All in all I walked away keyed up about learning another style of play but even more excited about another new friend in this hobby. Thanks AB for all the input and the new friendship.

I have read many posts over the past 2 years arguing about what style truly represents true football. After being able to meet so many great people this weekend I have come to this conclusion.

AB’s style of play is different and very challenging. I will say it is not for everyone because it demands you really understand the X’s and O’s of football and you must think your way through the progression of each play. I will get crushed playing his style but look forward to challenge.

What I learned from the great Reg’s style this weekend is his willingness to step out of the box using any bases possible to make the game more life like. This dude had the entire line moving laterally at one time and they even would drop back to form a pocket for the QB. In his style they will pass to receivers when engaged with defensive players. (So many new ideas)

I show up at the Brawl and was introduced to a style of play that uses a divider.
I must admit I loved using it.

Now I look at the current way I play elf and ask myself why I will not step out of the box and allow myself to experience all the great ways of playing this hobby. Is it because I am a purist and do not want the basic game I love to change or is just because I am set in my ways or do people rub me the wrong way and I refuse to try their contribution to the hobby.

But as I look back to my first elf games with the little guys running in a circle to bad paint jobs I realize that I am not a purist in that I have already stepped out of the box when I started painting, decaling and tweaking.

So what did I truly learn?
I truly learned there are many great ways to play this great game
because so many great men have dared to dream. To all you who have put your dreams into action I thank you because no matter what system I play in – I have the option to choose from the basic to the most advanced. Who knows I might even go back to the simple days and just use all untweaked bases like back in the day.So when all was said and done I had the opportunity to experience many great styles explained to me by the great men who dared to dream.

So to you guys I say thank you and dream on

Mark

WOW!
Mark, u said it better than I could.. it was off the chart. I truly appreciate the time AB spent with us each day explaining his style of play.
I cant wait for us to try it out and see what we can do with our teams with this style of play.
AB u get high props for your personality and information you shared with us.
Cant wait to get together with you again.
I had a lifetime experience with all the different styles and strategies of play.
It was the ultimate time and fellowship with all efl brothers from across the USA..

Default Me Too

I had a BIG chip on my shoulder that AB put there over the past year and I resigned myself to "see it for myself" this weekend.

Although this was my Tournament (and Don's), had I not seen AB's demo on Friday Nite, I prolly wouldn't have been as focused throughout the rest of the weekend. I was FINALLY relieved of ALL of my anxieties over this "non-EF" style of play and to be quite honest, aside from using electricity and EF figures and bases, it's NOT EF!!! It's like playing chess on Star Trek - they play on 3, 4 or 5 different boards at the same time!!!

AB has done what we have all done once upon a time and one at a time, but he has also incorporated all of them into ONE neat package. I must admit I'm chomping at the bit to get me a team going and also trying to get some of these guys here to try this style. Or else I'll just play a solitaire MPF season.

Thanks to AB for not knockin' a straight-forward kinda guy from Chicago like me and "SHOWING" me the light. Figuratively, of course, Pastor Mark!

Default Joel and Mark

Guys
It was truly an honor to talk to you about this wonderful game and to share my work with you both . I truly hope and pray that you will enjoy this style of play for years and years to come .

Just knowing that we all share the same love for this hobby makes it a pleasure to be around men like your self .

I love all the question you guys had , and just to see you trying this style out , and to see the looks on your faces lets me know that I did it right .

You both made me feel good to know that you understood what I was doing and have created . It's not that hard like most coaches think , infact it is very simple when you think about it .

May the Lord God bless and keep you both , and as I said befor if there is any thing that I can do for you just let me know and any question that you might have just ask .

Default Thanks Jimbo

Jimbo;

Thank you so very much for every thing . Man being understood is joy to my heart . I have a tear in my eye to read what you wrote , " it's NOT EF!!! " .

There are no words for me to express how I'm feeling right now , the word are hard to find right now .

I was never trying to put down other styles of play , just to let guys know that there is another style out there that has that special something . As you know I have out in a lot of hard work and many hours with this to make sure it balanced and that it is football .

Man I can't wait to get the finished DVD back and to view it , and to let every one know when it ready .

Thanks for allowing me to show the system to you , thanks for your question . Thanks for letting me ref games , thanks for making me feel at home .

Default I felt the same way!!!

Burgess was #1 on my seek and destroy list when the Miggle Convention came to Md. Once I unpacked my suitcases, it was down to the lobby to find Burgess. I remember I was talking to someone, and said, Man, I'm looking for this Burgess dude. He (burgess was sitting at the same table) said here I am, what's up? I didn't think he was that big, so my idea of smacking him around for all those post had to be put on the back burner, maybe until my Philly posse arrived.

I hung with him that whole weekend feeling him out, and I was just like you guys. This can't be the same guy!? I think when he gets in front of the computer, he blacks out or something. Cause face to face, he is one of the nicest guys you will meet in the hobby. His enthusiasm is off the charts. He could honestly talk EF all day! His system is very advanced, I hope to see a tourney using that style of play in the very near future!!!

Jimbo, I'm glad you got to see him, and his style. You are a definitely a straight shooter. If you want a honest answer, go ask Jimbo. Homie won't do too much sugar coating either.
